New applications announced for the iPad are the ProjectWise Explorer for iPad just like ProjectWise Explorer on the desktop or laptop, which provides that safe secure access to project content regardless of where it is in the world. Now you can do that directly from your iPad. Also announced is Bentley Navigator for the iPad, the review and markup tool that allows you to bring the model or drawings in, view them, navigate them and mark them up with hand’s on review and markup synchronization. You can put clash detection on your desktop, can make a change that synchronizes back through ProjectWise and back into the originating model with that markup. So whoever made the model is notified that there is a markup for your model and the markup is presented back in the original model in the right place in the right orientation so that the author knows what’s going on. The markup is managed so you know if the other party receives it and does anything
with it, you get notified about that.
It also has panoramic navigation, where you can hold the iPad in your hand, as you move it around, wherever it is pointing is where you’re looking in the model. In the future Bentley plans to extend this capability to devices such as Blackberry playbooks and Android. Other releases include a new release of ConstructSim and its integration with ProjectWise, and Bentley also announced six new partnerships, plus their ProjectWise for Constructing and ProjectWise for Revit users packaged offerings that have software training support setup in a single purchase.
Hand-off Between Design and Construction
While the following applications had not been announced at press time, AECWeekly will follow up with some coverage of the following: (From the press release: ) Bentley’s new AECOsim family of information modeling applications provide interdisciplinary building design, analysis, and simulation software focused on helping architectural, engineering, and construction professionals deliver high performance, intelligent buildings. AECOsim enables best practices in integrated building systems design and performance simulation, and results in simulations that properly represent design intention and accurately predict the performance of the delivered building. These applications enable architects and engineers to author and use rich information models to: Newly released is construction workface planning with open interfaces to the major plant engineering applications, now fully leveraging ProjectWise V8i and Bentley Navigator V8i, through the new ConstructSim V8i.
