Harriman Congratulates LaPierre and Wise on Professional Accomplishments

March 9, 2016 Harriman and The Cecil Group, a newly merged architecture, engineering urban design, planning, and landscape architecture firm with offices in Portland and Auburn, Maine, Manchester, New Hampshire, and Boston, Mass., are pleased to announce that two staff members have recently earned professional certification and accreditation. Jeffrey LaPierre, P.E., LEED AP, HFDP, CEM has received The Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and Kathryn (Katie) Wise, AIA, E.I., LEED Green Associate has passed the Architecture Registration Examination (ARE) and is now a licensed architect.

“Our people are our greatest asset and we encourage all of our employees to continue their professional education and development,” said Clifton Greim, P.E., president of Harriman. “Jeff and Katie’s pursuit of additional professional certification and accreditation is a sign of their dedication to their profession and, by extension, their clients. We congratulate them both on this professional achievement.”

Jeffrey LaPierre, P.E., LEED AP, HFDP, CEM

Jeff has 22 years of experience as a mechanical engineer and has designed heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for a variety of institutions, including colleges and universities, K-12 schools and laboratory facilities.

Jeff received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine. In addition to CEM, Jeff holds certification as a Healthcare Facility Design Professional (HFDP) and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and is a past president and current treasurer of the Maine Chapter.

Kathryn Wise, AIA, E.I., LEED Green Associate

With a degree in both architecture and engineering, Katie brings these divergent disciplines to bear, focusing simultaneously on both the conceptual as well as the pragmatic aspects of any design problem. Katie is an active member in the American Institute of Architects, serving on the Maine state board of Directors as well as regional and national committees.

Katie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Maine and a Master of Architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
