As a city evolves, how do you ensure you make the right decisions and meet the needs of the people? Singapore is a pioneer in creating a comprehensive virtual model of itself: a virtual city.
Globalization, urbanization, and climate change present significant challenges to cities worldwide. In addition, with the increasing deployment of connected sensor technology, cities are rapidly growing beyond the capability of planners and city managers to manage effectively. In parallel, urban residents and visitors, accustomed to the personalized experience of the web enabled by their smart devices, have ever-higher expectations for how technology will facilitate more engaging life, work and play experiences in the urban context. Facing the complexity of today’s urban challenges, traditional methods and techniques of urban planning and design appear outdated. Lessons can be learned from Industry where, for decades, designers and engineers have used collaborative 3D modeling, visualization, and simulation to imagine, anticipate and test the behavior of complex systems in the virtual world before prototypes pass into production.
It’s time to rethink the way we live.
To facilitate further conversations on how to rethink our cities, the 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM 2017 in Indonesia will focus on “The Cities of Tomorrow.” The forum will be held on September 19, 2017, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia. The speakers include:  Tri Rismaharini, Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini, Mayor of Surabaya, IndonesiaRisma is both the first directly-elected and first female mayor in the city’s history. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a master’s degree in Urban Development Management from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. She was awarded a doctoral degree from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in 2015. She began her career as a public servant at Surabaya. Before being elected as Mayor, she served as government employee in Surabaya City Government for more than 20 years. She was the Head of Surabaya Program Controlling Division and later she became the Head of Surabaya Landscape and Cleanliness Department. When Tri Rismaharini was first elected Mayor in 2010, Surabaya, although rich in history, was a city neglected by successive governments. It was then described as a concrete dump. Mayor Risma’s policy has been to make the most of empty land and open spaces. There are now eleven major parks in Surabaya, all with different themes. Many parks also provide Wi-Fi access and include libraries, fitness and other sports facilities. The most prominent is the transformation of Bungkul Park, which has been recognized as the cross-culturally public-engaged park in Southeast Asia. During her tenure, Surabaya has won a number of awards including the ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City Award 2012 and the Adipura Kencana, the highest environmental awards in Indonesia. Mayor Risma was named as one of the 10 most inspiring women 2013 by Forbes Indonesia. She was also recently named one of the world’s 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine and was one of the top mayors listed last year by the City Mayors Foundation, an urban research institute. In March 2016, she was awarded the Ideal Mother Award at Cairo University, given by the Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization.  Dr. Mohammad Rusydi, Director, PT PGRC Dr. Mohammad Rusydi, Director, Palembang GMA Refinery ConsortiumDr. Rusydi is Director of Palembang GMA Refinery Consortium (PGRC) and Brisbane Capital Investment that structure financing and investment in infrastructure projects by promoting a partnership funding via Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). His main interest is on the development, investment, financial management and operation of energy, refinery and solar energy generation with green financing in Indonesia. He has vast international experience in financial markets including crypto currency in addition to his financial engineering and Islamic finance background. He teaches Investment, Islamic Finance and Applied Economics in the Australian universities.  Masaki Sox Konno, Dassault Systèmes Masaki Sox Konno, Managing Director, Asia Pacific South, Dassault SystèmesMr. Konno will lead a panel of Indonesian business leaders titled Our Digital Transformation Journey. The discussion will explore how Indonesian businesses are undergoing digital transformations to sharpen their competitive advantage in their respective industries. Konno is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing overall performance of Dassault Systèmes in AP South. This includes driving profitability and ensuring operational efficiency. He officially took on the role in 2016 and, currently, leads a team of 600 staff across the region. Prior to taking on the current appointment, Konno was Vice President, Asia, at BIOVA, Dassault Systèmes.
