Adobe Creative Cloud adds support for 3D printers

January 22nd, 2014 by Susan Smith

Adobe has announced big news in the form of support for 3D printers in the Creative Cloud, which will benefit designers who use Photoshop as a finishing tool for 3D content.

For those who have already signed up to be a trial user, Adobe said it’s resetting the 30-day trials for every user so that they can try out the new features. They’ve also added hundreds of tutorials that instruct people on how to use many of the features in Creative Cloud.

The cloud platform allows Adobe to update its software more frequently with new features and upgrades.

Photoshop CC makes it easier for designers to output their work. “Making 3D printing in this mainstream tool (Photoshop) can allow creatives to work on 3D printing, but eliminating the complicated backend of it and making it easier for them,” said Andy Lauta, Photoshop product manager at Adobe. “Ultimately, we view 3D printing as a content business – driven by the availability of content.” Included is a new 3D pull-down menu of options, that makes it possible for many more people to use 3D printing without having to be experts in 3D printing.

Using Photoshop CC as a finishing tool, you can apply colors to a 3D model using the new 3D menu options.
