Trimble Proliance 5.7 released

June 4th, 2014 by Susan Smith

Brant Carter, Product Management Director with the Owner Division of Trimble Buildings Group, answered AECCafe Voice’s questions about the latest Proliance 5.7 release from Trimble:

Proliance6-Gantt

How do the updates to 5.7 improve on the previous versions?

We’ve made significant updates to Proliance 5.7 with enhancements in 3 key areas.  First, we have enhanced the localization features to better support global project teams, enabling users to apply settings specific to their country or region.  Second, we have augmented and streamlined the ability to align Proliance to the specific needs and business processes customers want to automate.  Finally, the application’s workflow engine has been linked directly with the scheduling system.  This enhancement will have a big impact on how building owners and construction portfolio managers connect project planning with project execution.  Many users are using non-traditional project delivery processes (such as IPD and LEAN) as part of an overall virtual design construction method.  Traditional scheduling systems make it difficult to collaborate and coordinate activities across teams.  With the increased adoption of BIM,  many of these customers are looking for new ways to connect their teams.  Proliance 5.7’s ability to link workflow and scheduling together will have a dramatic improvement on supporting these new methods.

Does the software integrate with other softwares such as Autodesk and Bentley?

We did not make any changes in Proliance 5.7 in regards to interoperability with external systems.

Do you have any examples of costs and time savings in trial users to illustrate its usefulness in identifying schedule delays and saving time?

When designing our application features we often work directly with customers to get direct feedback and suggestions.  This was the case with Proliance 5.7 as we worked with several customers to fine tune the feature set.  For example, we have a customer who manages the rollout of a large number of similar construction projects each year.  In this case, getting schedule progress updates was very difficult – as these projects were often short in duration and by the time the schedule was updated the project was nearly over.  Moving to a workflow-based system allows users facing similar challenges to get instant progress updates as the activities are being worked on, resulting in more accurate and better planning.  Additional feedback received will result in the ability to better manage engineering deliverables.  In this case, it is often difficult to get consistent progress measurement.  With Proliance 5.7 customers will be able to setup standardized workflows with consistent progress measurements at each step.  Finally, Proliance 5.7 has introduced a new capability to notify users when their activities with dependencies have been completed, allowing them instant visibility into their own deliverables and the ability to identify schedule delays quickly.

 How is it priced?

Proliance has a flexible pricing and deployment options that includes both SaaS and on-premise options.  Proliance pricing is scalable, which allows both large and small organizations to get value from our product.
