Trimble acquires Manhattan Software

Trimble announced this week at a media briefing that it has acquired privately-held Manhattan Software, a real estate and facility management software leader, headquartered in London. The acquisition is not replacing any technology but it does extends Trimble Buildings’ portfolio of design-build-operate (DBO) solutions by providing building owners, facilities and real estate managers with integrated, end-to-end property, asset and facilities management systems.

Manhattan Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) provides an enterprise solution for planning and managing any organization’s real estate portfolio of buildings and assets. The deep functionality of the Manhattan IWMS is designed for the entire facility lifecycle to maximize resource utilization while reducing the total cost of occupancy (TCO).

Among Trimble’s complementary technologies are BIM, scanning mobility and spatial and modeling capabilities. The combination of Manhattan and Trimble assets will allow building owners to visualize their usage, performance and costs spatially.

Executives speaking at the briefing were Steve Vatidis, Chairman & Founder of Manhattan Software, Craig Gillespie, CEO of Manhattan Software and Geene Alhady, General Manager of Trimble Buildings’ Owner/Occupier Division. Since the beginning of BIM, facilities and real estate management have become some of the key parts of organizational operational structure, with information valuable to not only property owners but also managers and residents.

Manhattan CenterStone Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) allows facility managers to effectively and efficiently plan and manage their space, facilities, assets, leases, work orders and operations.

Manhattan’s Integrated Workplace Management System combined with Trimble’s broad technology portfolio in positioning, BIM, analytics and visualization expands Trimble’s ability to deliver total lifecycle solutions (CAFM solutions) that will allow owners and facilities managers to access data captured during the building planning, design, construction and renovation phases.
