Each year Bentley holds its thought leadership Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference of leading executives from around the globe, featuring state-of-the-art projects in the world of infrastructure design, construction, and operations. This year AECCafe will travel to Singapore for the event, as Singapore has demonstrated cutting edge application of technologies for all the above industry segments.
The agenda is generally centered around Bentley press announcements as well as company presentations, by those organizations who have been selected as finalists in the Bentley Be Inspired Awards juried competition. For the past few years the event has been held in London, but it will be exciting to have an entirely new venue in Singapore. The icing on the cake is the Year in Infrastructure Be Inspired Awards dinner, where the winners in various categories are presented with their awards for excellence in a given industry area. The agenda on Monday for the conference will also feature new industry-specific “academies” focusing on important topics of interest such as Introduction to Advanced Work Packaging, Reality Modeling Goes Mainstream, Innovative Use of Reality Modeling for Infrastructure Projects, the keynote by CEO Greg Bentley: BIM Advancements through Going Digital, Siemens keynote: Accelerating Digitalization in Infrastructure, Next Generation Design. Tuesday’s agenda will focus on “forums” for topics such as “From Project Conception to Operations: How Project Outcomes are Driving Business Decisions,” “Towards a Geo-enabled Smart Nation,” “The Design Phase: Managing Global Delivery,” “Road Design – Past, Present and Future,” “Improving Water Supply Design and Operations – Panel Discussion” and finalists presentations. Wednesday will focus on the Bentley Technology Keynote with CTO and EVP Keith Bentley talking about the future of Bentley product innovations. Speaker Corey Sanders, Head of Azure Cloud Compute, Microsoft will present a keynote on the topic “Cloud Enabled Digital Transformation,” addressing the rate of change and the amount of innovation, that has made it extremely hard for enterprises to harness the right technologies that address the right business challenges and opportunities. An Alliance Pavilion will bring together industry experts to discuss the “Pillars of BIM Collaboration,” “Leverage Photos and LiDAR Point Cloud Data Using ContextCapture,” “Advanced Sensing and Modeling for Infrastructure,” and “Advanced Work Packaging: The Business Case.” Digital Workflows for the Digital City is the title of the Bentley Product Keynote on Thursday, featuring speakers: Bhupinder Singh, Chief Product Officer, Bentley Systems; Lori Hufford, VP, Connection Services, CONNECT Team, Bentley Systems; Jeremy Shaffer, Vice President, Rail Solutions, Bentley Systems; Kaushik Chakraborty, Vice President, Regional Executive, Asia South, Bentley Systems; Robert Mankowski, Vice President, Asset Performance Product Development, Bentley Systems; Leo Li, Director, Business Execution, Design Modeling, Bentley Systems; Andy Smith, Director. An Alliance Partner Panel will present “Going Digital: An Interactive Panel Discussion” with the Alliance Partner Executives, with speakers: Leslie Sistla, Director, Global Alliances Manufacturing and Resources Industry, Microsoft; Michael Schneider, General Manager & Global Head, Siemens Power Technologies International; Ray O’Connor, CEO, Topcon; Jacques Lubetski, Executive Vice President, Bureau Veritas; and Antony Oliver, leading journalist, editor and civil engineer (Moderator). The panel discussion will offer lively perspectives on the future of infrastructure. Another interesting keynote on Thursday presented by speaker, Murray Lodge, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Construction, Topcon is entitled “Building New Infrastructure with Constructioneering.” “Constructioneering” is a concept that combines surveying, engineering, and construction workflows to provide new efficiencies in creating affordable, smart and sustainable infrastructure globally. Users start with a reality-captured survey and can update and leverage their digital engineering models at any time during the construction process in real time. The Awards Dinner and Ceremony will be held in the evening. Look for AECCafe coverage of some of the highlights during the coming week on both AECCafe Voice and GISCafe Voice.
