IMAGINiT Utilities for Autodesk Revit 2020 Launches

IMAGINiT Technologies director, Software Development, Matt Mason spoke with AECCafe Voice about the recent launch of Utilities for Autodesk Revit 2020 that offers a greater increase in the number of time-saving Utilities available in the 2020 release. Each utility in this all-inclusive bundle runs directly within Autodesk Revit and helps users automate repetitive tasks, resulting in more accurate data.

41 new Utilities are rolled out with the 2020 version, enhancing the Autodesk Revit toolset. IMAGINiT’s recent acquisition of the Autodesk divisions of Advanced Solutions, Inc. allowed IMAGINiT to incorporate approximately a dozen Revit tools into the IMAGINiT Utilities for Autodesk Revit 2020. As a unique value add for customers, these Utilities are complimentary to those who have their Autodesk subscription with IMAGINiT.

1) Which of the utilities listed are ones developed by IMAGINiT and which are by Advanced Solutions?
Advanced Solutions had done development as part of their BIMAssist and BIMAssist Pro utilities. These included: Family Processor, Fire Rating Coordinator, Match Instance Parameters, Note Block Creator, Text Find/Replace, Sheet Number Update, Sheet/View Duplicator, Viewport Alignment, Inspect Objects, and Spreadsheet Aggregator.
2) Did IMAGINiT do anything to the utilities from Advanced Solutions to make them compatible to their own products and any tweaking for Autodesk?
Yes, IMAGINiT did substantial work to integrate the utilities together to have a closer look-and-feel and help system. We also added a new utility that would let administrators choose how to organize and make utilities available, since we now have over 40.
3) Will Advanced Solutions customers be able to roll their subscription over to IMAGINiT?
Yes, we’re all the same company now!
4) For those who have an Autodesk subsciription through other organizations, how might they obtain the utilities?
The IMAGINiT Utilities are also for sale on the IMAGINiT.com website, as well as by speaking with your local IMAGINiT Account Representative.
5) Can you describe more about the utilities your customers may find most useful?
It varies widely. Many of the utilities were born from painful scenarios where a Revit user had to spend hours or days performing some manual task over-and-over again, mindlessly, to be able to make Revit do what they needed. We have many customers that reach out and tell us that our utilities saved us from hours or days of labor. Whether it’s updating Revit parameters, creating views and sheets, ungrouping groups, or many others – the utilities take grinding tasks and make them easy.
6) How often are the utilities for Revit upgraded?
One to two times per year. We expect to have another release in the fall this year.
