Recently, Epson announced the SureColor® T5470M – a new 36-inch printer and integrated scanner offering a fast multifunction solution for printing, sharing and saving technical documents. This model is the newest member in the Epson SureColor T-Series line of wide-format printers. Those who have owned printer/scanners in the SureColor line will appreciate the features of the T5470M – the print/copy/scan combo produces accurate A1/D-size prints in as fast as 22 seconds,1 rounding out the line of SureColor T-Series printers with its focus on managing blueprints, charts, posters, and more for the AEC industry.
Matt Kochanowski, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. answered some questions for AECCafe Voice about the new offering. Who are your primary customers? Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and GIS Mapping. Why would a company upgrade? The SureColor T5470M provides fast print speeds, accurate print detail, and wide-format scanning capabilities all in a compact solution taking up minimal space in an office. What’s the footprint compared with the previous options? The SureColor T5470M adds on a 36” integrated scanner capabilities while taking up the same minimal footprint as the single-function SureColor T5470. Is the Precision Core MicroTFP printhead technology with Precision Droplet Control new to this version? What does it offer that previous versions didn’t offer? Yes, the PrecisonCore MicroTFP printhead is the latest generation printhead technology from Epson and is offered is all the new SureColor T-Series models. This new printhead technology is a 1.33” tall printhead and offers faster print speeds able to produce a D-size print in under 22 seconds1 while still delivering high quality prints with accurate line detail. The newest printhead technology also features Nozzle Verification Technology with helps improve the reliability of the printhead. What time and cost savings do you envision customers will enjoy? Bringing technical printing in-house can provide many time and cost savings benefits. Users can print their technical documents from any computer, tablet, or smartphone on the network and have those documents within seconds. Printing in-house can also save customers money with printing on their own wide-format printer costing a fraction of the cost versus sending their prints out to a local reprographics or print shop. What features of the new Printer/Scanner foster collaboration? The scanner allows a user to easily take a document and scan to a network folder, scan to email, scan to secure FTP, or scan directly to a hard drive, all directly from the 4.3” touchscreen interface. This will allow users to take their technical documents and digitally share those documents with other users within the office or in remote offices in seconds. Is there a path to upgrade, such as per trade in of old printer/scanner? We do not have any upgrade programs at this time. _________________________________________________________ More about the SureColor T5470M (from company materials): The Epson SureColor T5470M delivers a range of usability features designed to streamline workflow, including:
