AECCafe Questionnaire: How Will AEC Firms Manage During the Pandemic?

March 18th, 2020 by Susan Smith

Every hour the situation with the Covid19 virus pandemic is changing. While people are taking the utmost precautions, AEC and visualization firms are going to have to be resilient and make some necessary adjustments, while continuing to provide services.

It is fortunate that technology provides us ways to interact with people other than face to face. However, that technology will be put to the test during this pandemic as more people may need to utilize it and forgo so many face to face meetings. Plus, infrastructure must continue to be constructed and repaired, some of which will be used to support the growing need for specialized facilities.

While we recognize that the business landscape is very volatile right now, we would like to hear from you with regard to what policies you have put in place to address the restrictions we are currently living under. We hope to provide update articles from time to time, as the situation changes, and may ask for your input again.

  • What types of policies are you putting in place for your employees that pertain to the Covid19 virus?
  • What kinds of travel policies have you enacted, if any?
  • Is your community densely populated?
  • Do you anticipate any changes in the attendance of employees, or jobs delayed or cancelled, services, and/or other changes in the general workflow of projects? If so, what are they?
  • Do you have any recommendations for employees or customers in terms of navigating the virus in the workplace?
  • How will you address the directive that people should try to work from home? Is that feasible in your industry?
  • How many of your staff are able to work in the field?
  • Do you have the ability to do webinars and teleconferencing to inform your staff of changes to design, concept, construction, etc.?
  • Are there specific instructions businesses have been given for dealing with the virus in the workplace by your community or state? If so, please list.

Respondents may choose to include their names and titles or not. We hope to provide organizations with information about how others are addressing the Covid19 virus during these difficult times. We at IB Systems wish you good health and well being during this very stressful time.
