HD Hyundai’s Vice Chairman and CEO, Kisun Chung, presented a groundbreaking vision at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 10, known as “Xite Transformation.” This initiative aims to revolutionize the construction industry by overcoming traditional barriers and contributing to a sustainable future for humanity. HD Hyundai’s expanded vision of Xite encompasses the development of intelligent construction sites integrating autonomous, digital twin, eco-friendly, and electrification technologies. Chung emphasized that the construction sector, foundational to human civilization, is ripe for technological and innovative advancement.
During his keynote at CES, Chung outlined HD Hyundai’s three primary innovation objectives: enhancing safety through digital technologies, achieving productivity with site autonomy, and pursuing decarbonization to construct a sustainable energy value chain. The company introduced its AI platform, X-Wise, and its derivative, X-Wise Xite, which are pivotal to achieving these goals. X-Wise aims to maximize safety and efficiency in fleet management, targeting site autonomy, while X-Wise Xite is an intelligent site management solution for efficient infrastructure production. HD Hyundai also announced its commitment to leading open innovation by collaborating with global industry leaders to establish a new global ecosystem. Chung’s speech was followed by insights from partnering companies, detailing their collaborative efforts towards actualizing Xite Transformation. Winta Bereket from HD Hyundai Infracore North America elaborated on the AI technology in construction equipment that advances safety and productivity. Prof. Marco Hutter from Gravis Robotics discussed the development of autonomous excavators and robotic construction equipment. Philip Moyer, Vice President of Google Cloud, along with Aerin Jungmin Lee from HD Hyundai, shared a roadmap for their collaborative work on generative AI. Dong-wook Lee, President and CTO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, outlined plans for a fully autonomous site solution by integrating intelligent construction equipment with X-Wise Xite. The session concluded with remarks from Ghadah Alhamoud, an international relations advisor from Saudi Arabia, highlighting the potential impact of HD Hyundai’s innovations on Saudi Vision 2030 and NEOM project.
