At the AIA Convention 2016 held in Philadelphia last week, the Exhibit Hall showcased software, hardware and all types of building materials.

Emphasis for AEC technology this year is on reality capture or modeling, building information modeling, zero carbon energy initiatives, conceptual modeling and the inclusion of metadata in projects.

Little could Churchill predict how timeless his comment was, or perhaps he could. He probably would be amazed at how that insightful comment would show up in the technological creations of today.

AECCafe’s Autodesk University 2015 Report

This year software companies are talking a lot about convergence, and Autodesk is no different in that respect. What is different is that the software company is making a significant investment in the “make” side of things, which it has promised for the past few years. This focus is moving into the building side of things with many technologies that we have traditionally thought of as strictly manufacturing.

Multiaction makes collaboration possible – visually

I’m amazed at just how far interactive display technology has come in the past five years.

MultiTaction, from MultiTouch Ltd., is an interactive display system that is used as a digital collaboration tool for architects. Mulitple users can use the MultiTaction interactive display now that MultiTouch has partnered with Bluescape, a platform that supports an unlimited number of people and teams.
