AECCafe Voice Industry Predictions 2021 – Part II

Industry predictions for 2021 launch from what technologies are in place, and which technologies have been relied upon during the Covid-19 pandemic. Even after the pandemic scare is over, industry professionals believe there will be a heightened need for technologies such as AR/VR/MR/XR to allow staff to collaborate remotely. Digital twins, remote working, off-site manufacturing, hybrid work situations and new ways of handling volumes of data are all predicted for the future, as fortunately they were already tools we could utilize before the pandemic.

Vectorworks 2021 Launches, Simplifying Users’ Workflow

Vectorworks, Inc. has launched Vectorworks 2021 with what they call a continued emphasis on improving product quality, performance and the user experience. This latest release includes the 2021 versions of Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Designer and Fundamentals, as well as 2021 versions of Vision, Braceworks and ConnectCAD.

AEC Companies Partner with Esri for GIS Integration

In 2019, it came to my attention that there was more specific attention being paid to AEC and GIS integration, specifically two partnerships of AEC companies formed with Esri. Esri’s Kathleen Kewley discussed the resurgence of interest of GIS in the AEC space from an Esri perspective. Kewley also worked at Autodesk at one time. In addition I have included information from a webinar conducted by Autodesk senior technical marketing manager Wes Newman and AEC Solutions engineer from Esri, Rafael Fernandes, about the partnership between Esri and Autodesk.

New Data Manager and Data Visualization Features Characterize Vectorworks 2020

This Tuesday, Vectorworks, Inc. announced the 2020 release of Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Designer and Fundamentals, as well as 2020 versions of Vision and Braceworks. This newest release brings improved software performance, quality enhancements and new data-driven workflows.

In an interview with Vectorworks CEO Dr. Biplab Sarkar, he spoke of the areas that Vectorworks addresses in the 2020 release. “Data and usability are the cornerstones of this year’s product line enhancements,” said Dr. Sarkar.
