House on the flight of birds.

The house is located in the north side of S. Michael Island in the Azores. The microclimate of this farmland offers frequent wind and showers so the first design strategy was to block with a wall those winds, offer diverse patios and covered courtyards on the groundfloor protected from rain and open all living space to the natural green around by glass walls receded from the experior. On the upper-floor there’s the private rooms more enclosed and protected.

Open Lounge in Zurich, Switzerland by NAU Architecture

Sunday, June 5th, 2011

Article source: NAU

Raiffeisen’s flagship branch on Zurich’s Kreuzplatz dissolves traditional barriers between customer and employee, creating a new type of “open bank,” a space of encounter. Advanced technologies make banking infrastructure largely invisible; employees access terminals concealed in furniture elements, while a robotic retrieval system grants 24 hour access to safety deposit boxes. This shifts the bank’s role into becoming a light-filled, inviting environment – an open lounge where customers can learn about new products and services.

Family house in Lety, Czech Republic by Studio Pha

Sunday, June 5th, 2011

Article source: Studio Pha

The goal of the design was a house that would, in its size, level of comfort and architectonic conception correspond to the modest needs of a young family. The house is made of wood, with the basic load-bearing structure supplemented and further developed by the integrated interior. This approach allowed for the maximal use of space even in relatively small rooms. At the basis is a transparent, logical layout, with a sufficiency of storage areas in its contemporarily economical spatial concept.
