House in Hatsugano, Japan by Horibe Naoko Architect Office

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Article source: Horibe Naoko Architect Office

This lot is bordered by a road on the west and boxed in by houses on the south, north, and east. Houses will also be built across the road to the west, so our main challenge was securing adequate privacy and natural light. As a result, we decided to design the building around a central courtyard. Although the facade appears monolithic from the street, the instant the front door is opened one is confronted by an open, light-filled courtyard. The plan on the first and second floors allows residents to circle around the courtyard as they move from room to room, almost as if they were going for a walk within their own home.

Urban Living XXL in Boston, Massachusetts in Ruhl Walker Architects

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Article source: Ruhl Walker Architects

This Boston loft – nearly 5,000 SF with 18-foot high ceilings – presented a number of amazing opportunities and more than a few challenges.  Chief among the opportunities was amplifying the immensity of the central living space – one of the largest in the city – while making an understandable and livable family house.  Two monolithic organizing walls and a floating ceiling plane anchor the space and orient the occupant without disturbing its vastness or disrupting sightlines.

This is a remodeling project of the club stadium of the Bulgarianfootball club CSKA Sofia to meet Category four of UEFA stadium standards. It mainly includes a new addition of a visor roof over the existing 22,000 seats. The visor roof can be executed in metal sheathing or lightweight translucent tensioned membranes. The original structure was built in 1923 over dirt banks in the middle of Knyaz Boris’ Garden – the central park in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. The last substantial remodel was completed in 1967.

The new Noain City Hall is equipped with passive and active systems of energy saving. The development of both systems was included from the early stages of design, so that the final outcome of the building is clearly determined by their presence. Casa LQ20 in Cuernavaca, Mexico by T3arc

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Article source: T3arc

This is a house located in Cuernavaca, Mexico.  The main idea was to generate a place where the interior lived open to the garden. Cuernavaca is a city with great weather all year, and the main activities always occur in the outside. Nevertheless, the sun could be a problem in the afternoon. Therefore, we constructed this house in two main volumes.
