Busan is the fifth largest port of the world. The BUSAN OPERA HOUSE (BOH) is located in the Busan North Port development area. This zone is home to a cultural complex department, museums, a maritime culture center, a cruise center, waterfront causeway, public parks, an opera, a theater and a business district. It is crucial that the BOH program and its architectural form integrate into the existing master plan, and express the new and unique creative character of the Busan North Port.
The central idea behind the new Research and Knowledge Park and Portal Zone at the University of Odense is a consequent sustainable approach, creating a dense cluster development, and thus leaving more green nature untouched.
A house situated in the residential area and near railway station and is built on the corner lot located one lot behind the main street. The house site borders the streets on the north and the east, and in the east (a longer adjacent to the street) there are a T-junction and an open car park on a culvert. This is an area of having a peculiar atmosphere of openness, where signboards and pot plants stick out into the street and there are many long-term residents, who are often seen chatting on the street. This house site is a gspecial spot of district designated under the zoning regulation, as there is a change in the zoning near the border of the next-door house site, which enable the house to be built slightly higher than the next-door house of the south.
A dispensing pharmacy built on the roadside in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture. In suburb where cars are popular in daily use, many shops stand in a row on a national road rather than in front of the station, a unique road sight that car parks line along the road and the wall surface of buildings are secluded from the road can be frequently seen.
I look out of the window of our office on de 5th floor of a sixties 50.000 m2 mail-order storage facility. I’m only 20 meters tall but almost nothing blocks my view. I can clearly see the cars on the lifted A20 highway, 500 meters from here, as it cuts through the surrounding industrial area. Further ahead of me stand the 3 Europoint Towers. A bit to the left, the infamous Rotterdam skyline, that somehow only impresses when seen from the Brienenoord-bridge shortly after sundown, during rush-hour, if the sky is partly cloudy … Immediately below and in front of me i see only roofs of halls. It seems that during the time this area was developed all work was done in 6 m high spaces.
The task has been to design the master plan for a new housing district in the Lindholm area of Gothenburg’s old industrial port.
The Lindholm area, dominated by former industrial buildings and shipyards, has been transformed into large-scale business districts and open plazas. The master plan proposal introduces a humane scale and a different architecture focusing on the small-scale urban spaces within the scheme by refining the positioning, geometry and transparency of the buildings.
Campaign was commissioned by leading trend forecasting agency The Future Laboratory to create an installation at Heimtextil, the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles. The brief for the installation was Reconnect, The Future Laboratory’s survey of the emerging trends, attitudes and inspirations that will influence the designer and consumer in 2011-12.
Carefully sited to embrace a large rock outcropping on a hillside site in Laguna Beach, California. The design of this project began from an initial conversation between owner and the architect while standing together on the site. They imagined a design, which through it’s materiality and physical lightness, would lead to a clear mediation between the structure and the site. The conversation evolved into a metaphorical narrative of two wooden shipping containers which fell onto the site from a cargo plane, one laying horizontally and the other standing vertically on the site.
Somatic Collaborative, an architectural practice based out of New York City and Quito, Ecuador created this proposal “Plaza República – a new fine grain open space” for a national competition for Quito’s urban renewal. The design team included Felipe Correa, Anthony Acciavatti, Andrew S. McGee, Andres Izurieta Rueda, and Mariusz Klemens. The Envirornmental and Botanical Consultants for this entry were Meffert + Etheridge Environmental Projects from New Orleans.
A master plan, compiled by C. F. Møller Architects, outlines how Dronning Ingrids Hospital, built in 1980, can future-proof its buildings through a combination of new buildings and renovations – improving the hospital logistics and giving the possibility to integrate the latest equipment in the field.
