This beauty parlor stands in the Omote-sando area of Tokyo, which represents one of the trend setting centers for this metropolis. The building has three roof openings which pours light into the interior and, which, by slit-like openings in the floor is led into the floors below, reaching the ground floor, which in turn can be seen from the street level through its large glass windows. Thereby, expressing the image of a “vessel of light.”

The Sundaram Tagore Gallery is devoted to the exchange of ideas between Western and non-‐Western cultures. In keeping with its mission, the Gallery sought to bridge dualities when they moved into the ground floor of a manufacturing building in West Chelsea. The new space, which last served as a taxi garage, had to be completely overhauled to serve as a platform for cross-‐cultural discussion through visual art, poetry, literature, performance art, film and music.

The inhabiting/space populating logic in Inner Mongolia is grouping. Local herds of camels & horses used to browse the steppe in search for comfort. This comfort was only fulfilled when they would arrive to a DECISSION to settle in the landscape. In the same manner, the always present clouds populate the Inner Mongolian sky: groups of rounded & cotton locking clouds spread at the intense blue sky. Finally, also the original nomads will settle their yurts following a constellation. An primary impression of non-organization is quickly overcome by a self-organized logic. Here, the museum volumes have found their own space in the park. The logics of placement come from many different aspects: orientation, functionality, targeted visuals, public space, creating a unique orchestrated sequence of spaces.

Software used: Designed mainly in Rhino. Using several Plug-ins to define shape, structure and façade patterning. For instance, to define the overall building shape, the architects used T-Splines or to apply the façade construction detailing into the façade the architects used Paneling Tools.
Studies by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) show a dramatic increase in obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease across the United States. These have become a national crisis that requires ongoing and immediate attention.
The Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes (TRI) facility will focus on the study of diabetes, obesity, and the metabolic origins of cardiovascular disease – bridging the gap between the research lab and the patient’s bedside and allowing for scientific discoveries and treatments to be developed more quickly and on a more personalized level.
Echoing and extending the many circulatory and visual connections that define its surrounding topography, the museum forms itself by extending and folding these connections through a series of pleats, producing a structure that changes as visitors move past and through it – creating great curiosity yet never fully revealing its content. The location of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at the northern edge of the Michigan State University campus is influenced by a set of movements along and across it.
Between forward-facing high-rise buildings and blast furnaces of the past the new Steelyard square forms the center of Belval Ouest, a city development project which is currently constructed in Luxembourg on the grounds of a former steel mill.

Concept of the work:
A beach house, facing the sea, planned for a family of four, where the architectural features were organized to be tied to a modulated structure of reinforced concrete. The order of the vacant and full spaces inside this structure is what provides volume to the project.
“When I discovered what would have become my refuge in the Salento area, my first impression of the building and the location was its “monumental nature”. Not for any special artistic or architectural value (it is, in fact, a rather rudimental and poor building), but for its expression of strength and character, which is typical of the nature and culture of the area. That was when I decided that the restoration project should have had the purpose to maintain my original impression intact.”

Raas Jodhpur, India, designed by The Lotus Praxis Initiative, has won the ‘World’s Best Holiday Building’ award at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2011. The presentation of the WAF Awards are taking place during the largest global celebration of architecture – the World Architecture Festival, which is being held at the Centre Convencions International Barcelona (CCIB) this week.
