The agency Ova Design is responsible for the central area of the Nature & Découvertes shop in Levallois, to stimulate the senses of its visitors. This original natural living bubble allows visitors to experience a new era of simplicity and interactivity. Nature & Découvertes is marking the start of a new customized model so that each shop is unique. The brand called upon the services of Ova Design to create and design this space within the 190m² of its new sales outlet.
This is a Johannesburg home, located on a suburban golf estate, in Africa. The home’s visual success is due to its perfectly balanced application of earthy textures against high-gloss finishes, and raw material against refined elements.
“The brief”, says Rudolph van der Meulen of Nico van der Meulen Architects, “was to create a stylish family home with ecologically sound design that maximized indoor-outdoor living to take full advantage of Johannesburg’s legendary eight-month summer”.
Back in the early 1950s, when noted Atlanta architect Richard L. Aeck stood with his 4-year-old son Tony on a reviewing stand overlooking North Georgia College’s revered drill field at the center of campus, he could not have known that the military barracks he was designing for a site opposite the stand would some 60 years later be restored and rehabilitated by the descendant architecture firm to his own Aeck Associates.
Situated in an industrial sector near Pierre-Elliott Trudeau Airport and intersecting highways, this commercial building stands out for its efficient architecture, simple forms, and colourful envelope. Fournitures Sélect specializes in the sale, rental, and maintenance of equipment used in post-damage restoration; it also provides training on this equipment. The building includes a showroom, customer service counters, a classroom, offices, a repair workshop, and a warehouse.
Situated on a hill in the undulating countryside of Bromont, this secondary residence sits, between forest and clearing, at the end of a road burnished by time. The challenge consisted of evoking the vernacular architecture of the Eastern Townships while affirming the project’s contemporary nature and integrating the building into the landscape with minimal impact. The project blends with its surroundings through the simple forms of the rectangular plan and the metal gable roof.
LanQiao clubhouse is located on the south part of the 2km long Shanhaitian beach park in Rizhao, east China. The 1150 square meter building includes saunas, cafe, and an outdoor swimming pool. Each facility is uniquely functioned so together can provide a complete touristic experience to its visitors.
The “inhabitable sculpture” project, which received two awards at the Grands prix du design 2011, is the result of four years of work executed by numerous fabrication and installation teams. Two premises were established by the client at the beginning of the project: “a space that people will find cold” and “living in an art gallery.” All designers hope, sooner or later, to obtain such a commission, which enables them to avoid subjecting their work to the obvious sacrosanct “warmth” obtained through wood.

The wooded site location became the beginning point for the concept of this project. The house was meant to read as if it were dropped into the woods and therefore different than the natural landscape but not dominant over it. The design was kept very minimal and simple: in elevation it is the classic 4 sided house with a 45 degree roof. To further illustrate this idea, the house was raised on a concrete plinth that is inset from the footprint of the house, thereby emphasizing the bottom two corners which help articulate the houses edges and the fact that it is this object that is placed within these woods.

The owners of this land located in Shuwaikh, to the northeast Kuwait City , are a young couple and their three children, who have a close relationship with European and American culture.
Aware of the potential of a site located in a prime location overlooking the “skyline” of the city and concerned about the limitations of his former residence, decided to build another house that would improve their life quality, placing it on the same site as the old.
In collaboration with EB Ontwerp, Studio Dave Keune Designed and realized a library for primary school Fiep Westendorp. It was our goal to create an environment that excites and tempts the children to read books again despite these digital days. The result is spiral shaped bookshelves that curl through the space. The spiral starts high and slopes down while making its turns.

Software used: Created the library with Rhinoceros.Did not use Grasshopper to create the top – every part was rotated by hand and then made flat for the cnc mill.Because you can’t create a 3d surface with flat plywooden pieces we forced every top part a bit into the top flow.
