The slender architecture of the water tower dominates a territory that is historically devoted to water management. The reservoir is a summit outside of the city.  Enriched by a contemporary recreational programme, it becomes the symbol for the ecological issues of our time. The public space finds itself amended.

Infiltration : Two thousand square metres of tertiary activities constitute the semi buried base of the water tower. Access to the reservoir opens up the first walkway from the street to the underground tha bought to life around a pond.

Evaporation : The shaft, dressed in highly reflective stainless steel, makes the foot of the reservoir appear not to be there. Disconnected from the ground, it takes on a volatile and inaccessible aspect. The visitor is invited to reconnect with it via an elevator.

Vaporisation : Disconnected from the outside world, the visitor discovers a terrace at the summit, an original rooftop space for festivities with the spirit of a dance hall.

Precipitation : A ramp threads its way round the reservoir through « the canopy ». It guides the visitor on a high-level walkway. During this journey throught the clouds, they see the city from another perspective.

RAMDAM is a young practice based in Paris (France), founded by Franck DIBON & Olivier MISISCHI in 2009

The years spent together as fellow students of architecture and our respective professional experiences have persuaded us that a constant exchange of ideas is fundamental to the creative process. RAMDAM developed naturally out of our attachment to public spaces. The name evokes the effervescence of the Bazaar, the image of a town that is open, free, unrestricted and full of contrast. It illustrates our conviction that there can not be durability without a mixing of cultures. RAMDAM invites us to surpass our normal limits and to defend a versatile vision of sustainable development. Whilst maintaining a path of modernity, RAMDAM proposes a humanist approach centred on the liberty of use and speculates on attitudes and behaviour patterns becoming ecologically responsible.

Our job is to interrogate the very notion of habitat in its basic daily use. Every project, whether large or small, is tackled with the same determination to explore the many facets of its specificity. Avoiding any preconceived ideas, aesthetic or otherwise, we attempt to reveal the poetic dimension of the place, weaving a fabric from the implications suggested by how it is to be used and its underlying significance in the collective consciousness. In this way RAMDAM supports the idea of a world culture in urbanism and is subsequently enriched by a multitude of potential identities. This diversity constitutes for us an unlimited source of inspiration. We believe that it gives ground for innovation and is propitious to the emergence of solutions in response to today’s preoccupations with the environment.
