Article source: Sergi Pons Arquitecte

This project forms part of the urbanization that is taking place in one of the lots left over after the construction of the Ronda de Barcelona, a bypass road, in 1992. A sports centre, a residential development and an old people’s home will all share the same space, creating a public area that will stretch from the street to a square giving access into the different facilities.

‘Westchester County Center’ Acoustics Revitalized by WSDG

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Article source: WSDG

An entrepreneur with a wide range of music business interests, Irwin Kornfeld has sparked new awareness for the eighty-year-old Westchester County Center.  A major upgrade of the facility’s acoustics, coupled with a state of the art sound system, has landed the WCC and its new “Pepe Infiniti Concert Series” on the radar of booking agents and performing artists seeking viable venues for tri-state concert dates.  The series’ launch featured The Beach Boys in concert in mid-May, nearly fifty years after their first WCC gig. The Johnny Winter Band and Edgar Winter Group, Boston, Il Volo, Whoopie Goldberg, Aretha Franklin and others are booked through November.

Małopolska Garden of Arts in Krakow, Poland by Ingarden & Ewy Architekci

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Article source: Ingarden & Ewy Architekci

The building of the Małopolska Garden of Arts (MGA) has been realized according to a competition-winning design by Ingarden & Ewy Architects. The program and the initiative of establishing this new cultural institution in Kraków was proposed in the year 2004, by Krzysztof Orzechowski, Director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre and Janusz Sepioł, at the time the Marshal of the Małopolska Voivodeship. It is no coincidence that the building was raised in the vicinity of ul. Karmelicka – a street popular with students and locals alike – opposite the building of the public library, with the aim of ensuring its smooth inclusion into the “bloodstream” of the city.

Restaurant Jaleo in Washington, DC by Capella Garcia Arquitectura

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Article source: Capella Garcia Arquitectura

Jaleois a Spanish word that means shindig, fun, racket, hubbub… It’s something positive, festive, good-natured. This is the aim behind the interior design of the new restaurant. What’s more the word jaleo starts with the initial letters of the name José Andrés. So the design of Jaleo is a mixture of the festive spirit and the particular personality of its owner, one of the most daring culinary creators on the planet.
