Incorporating a concept that robustly expressed the client company into this building was an important theme.

Article source: ZETTE atelier s.r.o.

The house is located in Mikulovice, a quiet village near Pardubice, in a flat region surrounding the river of Elbe. Despite having only 1000 inhabitants, this village is currently going through a housing boom. The house site is situated between a baroque church and a forest. Just like the neighbouring ones, this housing lot was also made by restoring a former waste disposal site.

Despite the informal program the small service building on Jektvik ferry terminal the project is very much an experiment. Besides of meeting some very pragmatic functions – a waiting room and two rest rooms – the projects is first and foremost about transparency and construction  and the architectural consequences of these.

Kulturbau ‘Forum Confluentes’ in Koblenz, Germany by Benthem Crouwel Architects

Saturday, July 13th, 2013

Article source: Benthem Crouwel Architects

The project started as a won competition for the redevelopment of the “Zentralplatz”. The program included approximately 20.000 m² of retail space, urban functions and a 6.000 m² square.

Urban design concept

The complete program is split into two volumes, separated by the Zentralplatz. This separation of functions allows for two autonomous and highly functional buildings, which can develop long-term and independently. Because of the precise positioning of the buildings and their outline, the pedestrian flows are organized in an effective and logical way.

SA VINYETA YOUTH HOSTEL in Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain by RIPOLLTIZON

Friday, July 12th, 2013

Article source: RIPOLLTIZON

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

The farm known as ‘Sa Vinyeta’ is located in the fringe of the urban fabric of Ciutadella, a place where the city grid plans encounter flat extensions of land dotted with isolated volumes, usually homes, some of which were linked up not so long ago to small-scale agricultural or livestock farms. ‘Sa Vinyeta’ was characterized by a ‘Farm House’ of particular historical significance that forms part of the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage Protection with a ‘high degree of protection’. This protection affected the entire building, including both the facades and the interior layout of the most representative spaces, such as the entrances, the staircases and noble rooms.
