The design of the new student housing for the University of Southern Denmark in Odense is based on a strong community spirit. The 250 student residences are located in three interconnected 14-storey buildings. This means that the residence has no front or back, but appears attractive from a 360-degree perspective. The building’s distinctive shape will make it easily recognizable on the campus, and clearly advertises its distinct residential content.
The team Witteveen+Bos, OKRA and ZJA has won the integral design tender for the Jaarbeursplein Utrecht and the underground parking. The vision of the winning team focusses on the realisation of the perfect parking, with a comfortable, lively, and socially safe city square on top of it, in which transfer and accommodation are designed in a recognizable and inviting way.
The plot, steep, will be provided in the future of the host church and square. The commission consisted of building the Parish Hall as futureTemplesocket. So the building is constructed taking into account several aspects that define the proposal:
Qube is a commission for an office building in Amsterdam. Qube is part of a development called IJpunt by G&S Vastgoed. IJpunt will consist of four blocks designed by Claus en Kaan, Dedato, MVSA and NL A.
The site is truly unique: the most western corner of the Minervahaven, overlooking the Mercuriushaven and the river IJ. Well connected to both the city center as the rest of the world, both by car, public transport and bike.
Molsheim is witnessing the renaissance of a legend; the past and the present merge into one – illustrating what Bugatti once was: the pinnacle of the art of automobile engineering. In September 2005, the production plant of the 1001-HP Bugatti Veyron was opened at the famous location. The plant is located to the south of Molsheim in a landscape part with the Chateau St. Jean (1857) at its center. This consists of an oval studio building and three test modules.
The library is designed as an advert for reading, its visible presence and invitation holding great significance for a community with 10 percent illiteracy. From underneath the glass dome the library is visible from all sides, especially from the adjacent market square where the library appears as one big book mountain. Underneath its monumental glass envelope damage to the books by sunlight is off-set by their normal 4 year life-span due to wear and tear from borrowing.
At the eastern approach to Nîmes, on the Remoulins and Avignon road, between town and country, motorway and suburbs, aerodrome and hills, the new contemporary music venue is going to magnetize the citizens of Nîmes, Marseilles, Avignon, Montpellier and Arles, with its striking architecture, a concentration of manifest energy. First amongst the performances that take place here, it mesmerizes the passer-by with the dynamism of its dramatic forms and immerses the spectator in a sculptural and colourful universe spread out beneath its angular shell.
The project is designed as a variable section of wall and ceiling that involves compressing and decompressing the space accommodates. The change of section depending of the uses (corridor / access-bathrooms / classroom / porch (outside covered corridor) / garden and outside covered playground), the sun’s movement and the longitudinal slope of the plot are responsible to design interior spaces that open to garden and outside covered playground.
The MO House project belongs to a family of projects developed in the office beginning in 2005. These projects explore the possibilities of generating architectural complexity out of the combination of simple elements. Throughout this process of projects, conditioned by a large number of program specifications settled by the clients, we have been forced to systematize every design decision in order to simplify the process to its full capacity. The results produced a nice surprise: the combination of a number of extremely simple spaces offered an extremely rich spatial experience.
The project area is located near Rome in the Castelli Romani Park. Prior to our intervention, in the project area there was an old shed, abandoned for over 15 years was made of tuff bricks and it had a roof in Eternit. Before starting the construction of the new building was necessary to proceed with the work of land reclamation. In this way we were sure to realized a building in a safe place.
