In the coming years the centre of Almere Buiten, a small satellite city just west of Almere Centre in Flevoland, the Netherlands is being upgraded to function as a renewed commercial core serving 50,000 inhabitants. The basis of this renewal is to regenerate the existing post war commercial centre as a coherent whole through a series of large scale multi-functional blocks and renewed public spaces.These blocks define clear zones for public space while at the same time upgrade the centre with higher quality shops, more parking facilities and more dwellings.
The design proposal for the General Department of Information System (GDIS), in Kuwait, developed by AGi architects in collaboration with Bonyan Design, is based on three principles: representativeness, security and functionality, turning the complex -with a total gross area of 135,482 sqm- into a strong civil icon representing Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior Affairs.
Chinchwad is a thirty minute drive from the center of Pune, and is thriving as a factory neighborhood of domestic and Western automakers. The main target for this hotel is these Western businesspersons.
This was our seventh project in India, and we designed the whole interior of the newly built hotel with 14 floors and about 120 rooms. It is a five-star hotel, which is still rare in Chinchwad, and has all-day dining, a bar, spa, hair salon, gym, ex-lounge, presidential suite, and roof top bar facilities.

After a construction period of four years, the city of Gelsenkirchen is this weekend celebrating the opening of its new town hall, which was converted to plans by the architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp). In addition to speeches, tours of the premises and other festivities, gmp founding partner Volkwin Marg, town planner Kunibert Wachten and architectural critic Dieter Bartetzko will be talking about this new building on old foundations in a round-table discussion. The briefing for the new Hans-Sachs-Haus specified that the existing town hall in the city centre be demolished and a new town hall with public citizens’ forum be built while retaining the brick facade dating from the 1920s, which is listed as a historic monument.

Just before a Korean pop-song became a global success on YouTube for the first time in history, and Gangnam became world famous as the nouveau riche hangout of the South-Korean capital Seoul, MVRDV was commissioned by Woon Nam Management Ltd. to redefine a building on Gangnams chic Apgujung Road. Even though the Chungha building was completed in the 1980’s it was already outdated in a street dominated by flagship stores. The transformation, which added an extra level, was completed in just 9 months.
After having cooperated together in landmark F&B projects, VOL and Kokaistudios re-joined to work on a challenging new project of conceiving an innovative Cantonese Fine Dining restaurant in Shanghai, a new product where the contemporary and trendy environment that is the signature of the VOL Group meets the pure essence of the traditional Cantonese cuisine. The challenge of creating such innovative product become the opportunity for Kokaistudios to reinvent the approach with which Chinese restaurants are usually conceived and create Y2C2, a restaurant elegant and edgy at the same time, a project that brings a new energy and freshness to Shanghai’s dining scene.
The owner of the arsenal wanted to convert this former Swiss army building, constructed during the Second World War, into a habitable space.
Architect Ralph Germann’s transformation involved inserting a glass cube into the old structure, an option which meant he didn’t have to touch the patina of the walls, and was able to preserve the roof and some historic details such as the “charge maximum 1500 kg au m2”[maximum load 1500 kg/m2] sign on the wall.
The clients asked for a house that had to be close from the outside but open from the inside. Had to have introverted facades, to maintain the privacy of their adjacent plot, but at the same time generous views towards all its carefully landscaped perimeter.

The following interior design was realized for a retail store of a company which runs its own dairy farm, featuring products, such as dairy products, sweets and bread, made using milk form said farm as the main ingredient.
The residence’s view is a slope: a naked attic slope. The site is significantly inclined and is accessed only through its narrow upper side. The declivity of the site faces an equally slanted hill –the predominant point of visual reference. As the residence neighbors with two extrovert residences on both sides, it realizes enclosure, concentration of the view and an introvert escalating development of its open spaces towards the east. The opposing landscape of the hill is perceived from a distance.
