Article source: Alejandro García & Arquitectos A petite small projects have pleasant surprises as the case of the Office of Tourism Arteixo. The intervention is to reform the existing local who once was bus station, to convert Office of Tourism, visitor information point. It was clear from the outset that the result of the action should create an icon in Arteixo that was the center of attraction for tourists and easily detected by the same, forcing the tourist who goes to other places did stop along the way and parase in the tourist office.  Image Courtesy Alejandro García & Arquitectos The other condition was the economic game, we had a budget of € 100,000.00, so had to get something unique and striking with little money. So you choose the option to reform and put the existing building, without pulling the existing, to adapt it to use as tourism office equipping of comfort and service to its users.  Image Courtesy Alejandro García & Arquitectos We decided to create a new skin for the building to go with a new material we choose modern anodized aluminum mesh which itself is resistant in time supported and anchored in the existing building, creating the imagination did that skin the rest, to create this new image of the building getting so no go unnoticed and the building itself was the center of attraction for tourists.  Image Courtesy Alejandro García & Arquitectos This skin would turn as protection from sunlight and prevent the worker was exposed to the sun and the eyes of passersby. The place has an area of 200 m².  Image Courtesy Alejandro García & Arquitectos The layout is simple, is divided into three zones, the first office would pair two jobs, the second reception area and showroom where all documentation includes useful tourist council and third zone the small store and bathrooms for the disabled and public use. Leaving the existing building (avoiding waste production) which with a slight intervention was provided with facilities for the user, the outside of the existing building is painted black for better contrast with the metal skin.
