A smart grid with renewable energy supports the local public transport. The subway and bus stations are combined with E-Car- and E-Bike-Stations. The industrial area to the north is separated by a natural forest which naturally filters contaminated air from the north. Designed green corridors link the buildings with the natural wetland in the south. A structured traffic concept allows a balanced condition between a car-friendly and car-free city.

The planning area is divided in three theme areas and in total covers an area of 90 square kilometers. The “International Automobile City” integrates the existing BMW plant (Tiexi factory) in the local landscape. A new car holding- and display facility provides the new car models for pick up. New cars can be tested on the speedway- and off-road track nearby, which is surrounded by a theme park.

The “Riverside City”, which acts as a central business district, is highlighted by a water axis. Theme islands in the canal offer a representative position, e.g. the governmental building. The area is comprised by residential areas, isolated from heavy traffic and are orientated to the green areas of the winding river (Xi River). Each quarter receives its own community center which ensures the human scale. The third city complex, dedicated to the University, is used for R&D and residential.
