The “Pasteur ” social residence, with a capacity of 165 studios, is part of a process of relocating migrant workers within two residences , as part of the treatment plan of Homes Migrant Workers , led by the national CILPI organism . This change status is to remove the collective accommodation towards an individual and autonomous housing. This is also included in a larger program redevelopment of the St. Louis neighborhood in Carrières sous Poissy (78), in the great parisian suburbs.

This social residence intends to be a resource on the territory for temporary housing for different types of audiences.

It must initially offer housing solution for migrant workers related to the automotive industry, but now with a target of generating a more mixed audience.

We have relied on this ambitious and rewarding program to propose a general figure consisting of two simple volumes , fitted around an empty space at the corner of two streets : a rift between public and private space. These prisms are related on the ground floor by the glass double height lobby.

The project divides the set into two separate wings , one covered with a mesh of raw wooden materials and the other of an anthracite coat on glass fiber pannels.

The light façade walls are made of prefabricated and insulated timber panels, hanging to the concrete structure a column- beam principle grid .

The building, located in the periphery of the plot, gives off a large sunny garden facing south , which benefi ts to residents who are mostly retirees of the automotive industry .

A light metalic structure ensures openness, transparency and brightness through the lobby making the garden visible from the public space.

The generous reception space, the punctual oversized corridors and the planted garden specially designed to protect the ground floor studios intend to turn out this somewhat rigid program (165 strictly repetitive studios) in an effort to qualitative transformation and upgrading housing .
