Bordered by the track on three sides, the 27-acre Grand Plaza lies at the heart of the Circuit of the Americas and defines the public experience for most visitors to the new motorsports and entertainment venue. The 3.4-mile racetrack coils around the Grand Plaza and springs out to the east and west, making it the perfect location not only to watch the action of the race unfold, but also to enjoy the amenities contained within. Ideally situated to capture the energy and atmosphere of the Circuit of the Americas, the Grand Plaza will serve as Central Texas’ new home for outdoor entertainment.

“Yona on the Beach” in Rockaway, New York by Stephen Yablon Architect

Saturday, July 20th, 2013

Article source: Stephen Yablon Architect

In response to the MoMA PS1 Rockaway Call for Ideas, Stephen Yablon Architect’s “Yona on the Beach,” which was one of the selected entries, accepts the inherent and increasingly dynamic weather conditions of barrier islands. SYA’s idea is a new model for barrier island settlements; entire beach neighborhoods are raised high above the 100 year flood plain so that the barrier island below can naturally shift and change during storms with minimal impact to human habitation.

Strømbu Service Centre and Rest Area in Folldal, Norway by Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk

Article source: Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk

The 42kmRondane Tourist Roadgoes on the east side of the Rondane Mountains from Enden in the south to Folldal in the north. The centre is situated near the midpoint of this route, and the place also serves as a main starting point for mountain hikers. The placing together of the two user groups has been important for the layout. For the car tourist: How to be introduced to nature and the mountains during a few minutes stop. And for the hiker: How to leave or come back to civilisation after days in the wilderness. Strømbu is also an information centre for several activities in the district, and the place is basically run and operated by the local parish.

It is the “Cube” restaurant concept project in style minimalism. Of 512 sq.m.

The concept of restaurant consists in singularity for an everyday life space. Getting here the visitor it appears on “a dark side of the moon”, in the world of shadows, the monochrome environment, in a place where accent  the person, his inner world. The main objective of the author to take away the person for a while to the mysterious, unfamiliar and unusual world gray which too can be very sensual and expressive.
