The Leslie Hotel is a building, in the Art Deco style, located on Ocean Drive at the heart of the Historic District of Miami Beach. Originally completed in 1937 by Albert Anis, it has recently reopened after a complete transformation. Our aim is to embrace the original architecture and create contrast with our own intervention. Historic elements cleanly coexist with contemporary detailing.

Originally the building housed 48 guest rooms, with the only amenity being a restaurant. We decreased the room count to 35 and increased their size to conform to today’s standards. The restored Leslie Hotel now offers as part of its amenities a business center, gym, bar, restaurant with state of the art kitchen, and a new roof terrace with a pool overlooking the ocean.

The basement was salvaged as a public space through the excavation of the side yard in order to provide natural light to the new gym and business center. We restructured the roof to allow the guests to fully enjoy the unobstructed views of the ocean. The new pool terrace features a swimming pool, whirlpool, tanning deck and a pergola.

Based on historic photographs, we restored the existing façade facing Ocean Drive and recreated the historic detailing of the lobby. In order to showcase these original details, we introduced contrasting materials such as carrara marble, stainless steel, walnut and reflective resin panels creating an eclectic atmosphere.
