Massimo Manfredini Located in the historical center of Bologna, this two story penthouse faces one of the most busiest streets of the city just a few meters from one of the twelve monumental gates that give access to the old town. Massimo Manfredini The penthouse provides a comfortable entry hall leading to a large open space of about 65 square meters in which an acid green painted box, housing a closet and laundry room, separates the kitchen area from the entrance hall. The kitchen can be separated from the rest of the living area by sliding partitions When the sliding doors are closed they also create an entrance area providing a small wardrobe and a second closet for coats, shoes etc.  Image Courtesy © MAMA – arch. Near the external wall, where two windows open on the main street, the sofa area is characterized by the presence of the famous B&B City sofa designed by Antonio Citterio. A floor to ceiling cut in the wall between the sofa area and the study connects and separates the two rooms at the same time. This main floor also hosts the guest bedroom with a private bathroom. Massimo Manfredini The sloped wooden roof, painted with a transparent white finish and encloses a double story volume featuring a stylish staircase connecting the sofa area to a mezzanine (third floor of the building). Massimo Manfredini From the mezzanine a French window provides access to a 9 square meters terrace facing a small inner courtyard. In the studio and master bedroom false ceiling gypsumboard and walls hide the led lighting system. In the stairs area, the kitchen and the entrance hall, the led lighting system is plugged in the plaster of the mezzanine slab. All floors are finished in natural white painted oak-wood boards, except for the bathrooms that are finished with brown painted concrete.  Image Courtesy © MAMA – arch.
