Hupomone Ranch in California by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: v2com

Hupomone Ranch is an original 160-acre homestead located in the Chileno Valley, just three miles west of downtown Petaluma. The ranch had been fallow for over 30 years and the owners, a young family with three children, wanted to build a barn house that would reflect their commitment to sustainable farming, draw on the natural serenity of the site and build on the sense of place in western Petaluma where farming and ranching are still a part of people’s daily lives.

Article source: Buchanan Architecture

Casa Linder is a 3,700 square foot single-family residence located in a well-established, but transitional East Dallas neighborhood. Informed by the owner’s fondness for reclaimed materials, and inspired by the historic architecture of the Texas Blackland Prairie homestead vernacular, Casa Linder embraces the architectural heritage of the earliest Dallas settlers by blending the simple forms and materials of the original prairie dwellings with contemporary planning and crisp detailing.

Carlsberg Innovation, Research and Development Center in Obernai, France by Schweitzer & Associés Architectes

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: Schweitzer & Associés Architectes

The Carlsberg Research and Development Center was built on the site of its subsidiary company Kronenbourg. The articulations of the building are defined by the program: offices, laboratories and process area. Vertical timber slats are built in front of the facades to create a visual and solar filter for inner spaces. The upper parts of the slats are waving to remind the Carlsberg logo. The main ingredients used for beer processing are surrounding the building. A pond filled with water creates mirroring effects and animates the pedestrian way towards the entrance. Patches of hop cover the north facades creating a visual filter. Finally, a monumental barley field is printed on the facade facing the road.

A MEDITERRANEAN HOUSE in Ostuni, Italy by Flore & Venezia

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: Flore & Venezia

Thanks to the possibility to work on the reuse of an old farm, we could reflect about the theme of Mediterranean House.

The old farm was different from the typically character of Puglia’s farm. A principal building in liberty style and many different others, such as garage, barns and storage, composes the farm. The principal villa has just one floor and her façade is a rectangle organised on a vertical axis, so to be perfect symmetrical. To underline decorative parts like windows or the columns of portico, it was used stone. The villa and all the other buildings are organised around small squares.

Family House in Horjul, Slovenia by 2AMV Arhitekti

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: 2AMV Arhitekti

A modern family house positioned on a hill in the idyllic countryside of Ljubljana, Slovenia. It offers its owners a fabulous view of the nearby Village of Horjul on its north side, and panoramic views of the farmland in the south. It’s organized so that the living area is in the top level with the larch-wood terrace providing shade in the south. The sleeping quarters are in the partially underground fool level connected the outside area. Exactly this connection of the internal functions of the house and the hillside was the main goal of the design team 2AMV Arhitekti. This is also prominent in the way the garage is cut into the hill.
