Life Science Centre of Vilnius University in Lithuania by Architektūros linija

Friday, September 16th, 2016

Article source: Architektūros linija

The key idea of the Life Science Centre architecture are the science and teaching complex modules forming the public space layout and comprising the integral whole like different cells of the matter. Cube-shaped volumes in open spaces of Saulėtekis, reiterating the natural context and building a humanist, traditional urban structure characteristic of the city of Vilnius, resemble a feature of the historical Vilnius University ensemble – a cosy inner courtyard. The volumes comprising the square perimeter and the entrance to the building are moved out over the glass vestibule and the merging space unites the areas of the main lobby, the courtyard and the passage, seamlessly linking them with the environment.

Ding Hui Yuan Zen & Tea Chamber in Beijing, China by He Wei Studio/3andwich design

This is a factory renovation project. Rebuilt into an office in its latest renovation, the old factory experienced several times of renovation after its construction in 1970s. Unlike other factories with large space, the factory doesn’t have a big space span while the height is normal showing no special features. However, a 100 square meters backyard is quite impressive. Based on the owner’s requirement, designers need to reconstruct it into a Zen Chamber.

Papa’s hostel in Zhejiang Province, China by He Wei Studio/3andwich design

Friday, September 16th, 2016

Article source: Sunshine PR

The project is located in Pingtian village, Sidu Township, Songyang County, Lishui city, Zhejiang Province. The original building was an ordinary rammed earth dwelling with two floors in civil structure, covering a total of 270 square meters. People generally call the place “Papa’s Home” since it belonged to the owner, the elderly Jiang Binlong. The goal of design is to renovate it into a place with new functions and spaces. We decided to put papa’s home with a young face — transforming it into a youth hostel with international standard after discussions with the owners and the local government.

Central Park Residence in Cluj-Napoca, Romania by Dico si Tiganas architecture and engineering

Friday, September 16th, 2016

Article source: Dico si Tiganas architecture and engineering

When the client demanded three rectangular residential towers on a site with irregular contour, surrounded by a winding stream that derives from the Somes river and by clusters of poplar trees that surround the nearby sports park, we took the responsibility to come up with a different approach: a building that integrates the three separate units in one unitary volume with a layout that undulates on the site so that it makes the most of the natural light and views. It also provides a sheltered space and a private, quiet area, in the resulting concave space. This space is an artificial landscape, a green leisure and relaxation area that is shaped as a green roof for the underground parking.

Project M in Brisbane, Australia by Studio 15b

Friday, September 16th, 2016

Article source: Studio 15b

This home was built in the 1950’s and over the years passed down the generations of the one family. Since originally built, the home had been altered in an ad-hoc way, and so the time had come for it to be stripped back to basics, raised and built-in and under for today’s modern lifestyle of the current family needs. This allowed Studio 15b to work with a clean slate which enabled us to re-orientate the spaces to best suit the northern rear aspect – creating the distinct sculptural M roof form.

Pool and studio SM in Balearic Islands, Spain by Joan Miquel Seguí Architecture

Thursday, September 15th, 2016

Article source: Joan Miquel Seguí Architecture

The new swimming pool and the studio are built in the back of the courtyard of an existing house. The studio is a pure volume that flies over the pool, facing the existing house. The pool is proposed as a sheet of water at the same level as the terrace.

The swimming pool is finished with the same stone as the terrace, detailing the lights and pipe-ends so that they are invisible.

Drubba Moments in Baden-Württemberg, Germany by Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Thursday, September 15th, 2016

Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Titisee-Neustadt is a peaceful small town in the upper reaches of the Black Forest, which has become a favourite destination for tourists from Asia. With its idyllic lakeside position in the romantic Black Forest, many appreciate how it offers a polar opposite to their urban, industrialised lifestyle. And of course shopping is now as important a part of any German holiday as visiting Cologne Cathedral or Munich’s Hofbräuhaus beerhall.
