Article source: EINSTEIN & ASSOCIATES DESIGN CONCEPT Located at Senopati 64 – South Jakarta – Indonesia, Jakarta’s pop-up urban district, Wilshire is a casual dining restaurant, which is also the name of one of the boulevards in Los Angeles. Wilshire aims to introduce Californian cuisine and lifestyle to the Indonesian market, but not to forget to also promote the “Wilshire Experience.” Offering wide variety of fresh gourmet californian dishes, the place also boasts its liquor collections with single malt whiskies and exotic vodkas.
The concept behind Wilshire’s design is a blending of sleek and posh industrial. There’s a contrast in the design between the masculine and feminine sides, but still manages to find a middle ground to balance the two, creating a unique sense of warmth and cozy ambiance that is crucial to the dining experience that is to be called the “Wilshire Experience”. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The restaurant is divided into three main spaces, which is the main dining area, the bar and the communal dining area. Materials dominating the place are dark colours, copper ,and floral mosaic in the interior. Consistent with the concept, there are two groups of materials, the masculine and the feminine. The masculine group consists of industrial materials like copper, steel, and galvanized steel, yet the feminine group consists of floral tiles mosaic and crystal chandeliers. The two sides combines perfectly, complimenting each other’s uniqueness. The center point of the main dining area is the many hanging metal pipes, made of steel, galvanized metal and copper in various sizes. The black and white masculine mosaic floor pattern is combined with floral feminine touch giving off more romantic atmosphere. The main dining’s left and right sides provide a cozier area, with the long linear table settings and industrial filament bulbs arragement above it, the floral mosaic background and to top it off, there are also garden view windows. The garden blends in nicely with the indoor interior, with copper sofa booth’s orchid garden and rose pattern mosaic floor. The wall is covered with combination of expanded metal and black steel, while the exposed ceiling is combined with industrial expanded steel and groups of copper and galvanized pipes. The restaurant uses some italian mosaic tiles (ex. Bisazza) on the wall and tables. One of the interesting spot is the communal dining area, where the communal copper table is covered by italian mosaic flower, thus taking the role as a VIP dining area. Contact EINSTEIN & ASSOCIATES
