SG House in Rosà, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

A detached house built on three levels and situated in a small rural village, in an agricultural context consisting of land planted with corn. The entrance opens directly onto the living area, through sliding windows overlooking the double height porch. The outdoor paving continues even inside the house, to emphasize the close relationship with the surrounding countryside. The project is based on the strong contrast between the outside of the house, more rustic and tied to local building traditions, and the interior, more contemporary, with smooth spaces arranged in succession, without interruption.

About Architect

Born in 1969 in Saint Martin D’Heres (France), I live in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza). I graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Venice, under the supervision of Prof. Sergio Los, with a thesis in the study of civic architectural features of the buildings. I passed the state exam for the professional qualification and since April 3rd 2001 I am registered at No. 1358 of the Order of Architects of the Province of Vicenza. After working with some professional architectural firms,I started my own firm in 2003 and since then I dedicate myself to the design of new buildings, to renovations and interior design, and occasionally to Object Design.

Every assignment of the firm, be it the design of a new building, a restoration or a remodeling of interiors, is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences in synergy with the client, with the understanding that the contemporary architectural design requires to abandon any working methods based on intuition alone, to reach instead methods which call for responsible design.

I believe that sustainability, which is so much talked about nowadays, must be part of a technical, creative and economic process, aimed at obtaining the well-being both of the individual and the environment. I express these concepts through a multidisciplinary approach to the project; from this point of view, leaving the role of levying arbitrary and subjective choices, the goal is to provide, among the “infinite possibilities”, sure and certain answers to the needs and expectations that the same context requires, whilst targeting at the same time a final result, a visible one, one apparently made of space but also of substantial textures, tactile experiences and chromatic quality of the surfaces.
