Living on the Herrenkamp in Bielefeld, Germany by Wannenmacher + Möller Architekten

Wednesday, November 1st, 2017

Article source: Wannenmacher + Möller Architekten

The high demand for student housing is the reason for the initiation of this new development on the edge of Bielefeld’s city centre.  It was only in 2009 that a new land use plan was approved for this area, prescribing two-story detached houses with sloping roofs for this location on a narrow building plot. Following on from this, the draft provides for the establishment of four detached houses, each with two floors and a stacked storey.

Article source: v2com

As Lemay celebrates 60 years of groundbreaking design, a review of its most defining projects—Montreal’s Four Seasons Hotel and Residences[i], the Bibliothèque du Boisé[ii], Montreal’s Place Vauquelin and Place d’Armes, the new international jetty at Montreal-Trudeau Airport[iii], Quebec City’s Paquet Wharf and the protective glass casing of the Grand Théâtre de Québec; the coastal promenade of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the Holiday Inn’s glamorous new look in Brooklyn, NY—is proof that its long and much-awarded history shapes its present and future as one of Canada’s leading integrated design services firms.

Wednesday, November 1st, 2017

Article source: wUrck

The “Golden Garland” (K.G. Zochernrug) is a bridge in Tiel that strengthens the route from the shopping area to the city center. The bridge crosses the water diagonally and forms the best possible visual and functional connection between the embankments. By defining the entrance to the city the Garland plays the role of a “city gate”. In an elegant gesture the bridge invites people into the city.

Wednesday, November 1st, 2017

Article source: Bloot Architecture

In Velp, the Netherlands, a sustainable refurbishment and extension of  a dilapidated 1950s villa has been completed.

The villa is situated on the edge of National Park Veluwezoom, a nature reserve. The many small rooms of the original house have been reduced to a small number of light and spacious spaces and a concrete extension with patio was added to the house. Although the various living spaces are in open connection with each other, the separate rooms retain their own intimate atmosphere.

New Dialysis Unit Area in Málaga, Spain by Joaquin Galan Architect

Wednesday, November 1st, 2017

Article source: Joaquin Galan Architect

The new Dialysis Unit in Hospital of Carlos Haya is an enlargement that occupies the place of the old staff cafeteria, even part of the own Hospital, where annexed rooms, such as changing rooms, toilets, storage room, repair monitors, dirty and clean offices are located. The main idea of the project is to develop all the activity of dialysis in the most diaphanous area, developing four distinct care stays, minimum, intermediate, intensive and patients-rooms. Thus, a radial composition is achieved, which is not broken in any case, as the separations are made of glass, the composition of dialysis stations is marked by the lighting and composition of the false ceiling is achieved, all this results in an open space, very comfortable and aesthetically unique and striking space, playing with a minimal numberof materials, expensive as well, combined with a few colours, taking advantage of the natural light, with special glasses.
