Stefan cel Mare Building in Bucharest, Romania by Lauster & Radu Arhitecti

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Article source: v2com

Until 2006 the site located at the intersection between B. Mumuleanu and Tunari Street was a neighborhood vulcanization shop for cars. Between 2006 – and February 2015 the site was empty and people were mistakenly using it as a place for garbage.

The building was commissioned by a private investor who was interested in revitalizing the zone and create a building that can house office spaces for rent. It was also desired to create a meeting point with the help of a fine restaurant, that displays one of the most exotic tastes.

Sears Department Store in Memphis, Tennessee by DIALOG

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Article source: v2com

In the heart of Memphis, Tennessee is the awakened community of Crosstown. The genesis of this urban revival dates back to 1927, where a premier Sears retail store animated the community. At its height, this art-deco building housed 1,500 employees. Over time, shifting demographics and population depletion in Memphis’s urban core led to the store’s closure. As time passed, the 1.5 million sq ft building fell into disrepair. Some thought the building and community unsalvageable. Those some thought wrong. This is a story of the regeneration of an entire community-lost through strategic Urban Design by International Design firm, DIALOG.

Hue Hotel in Boracay, Philippines by CAZA

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Article source: CAZA

Our ambition was to rethink the concept of a boutique hotel and tropical architecture for the 21st century. Embracing the lush climate, but drawing attention inward, the bulbous design comprises a stack of interlocking rings producing a continual, rhythmic cycle of entertainment and relaxation through terraces, roof gardens, and hotel amenities. The experience moves from communal, recreational spaces in the central enclosure to a collection of bespoke guest rooms along the upper reaches of the building.

ENGEL House in Andělská Hora, Czech Republic by Vit Maslo and David Richard Chisholm

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Article source: Vit Maslo and David Richard Chisholm

In a small community in the Western region of the Czech Republic, not far from the spa town of Karlovy Vary, this villa was designed as a recreational house for an accomplished man, his family and friends.  The architect’s intention was essentially to assimilate the romantic context of this small village, posited just under the massive cliffs and ruins of a Gothic castle, where the town originated. Andelska Hora (originally in German Engelsburg), belongs to a protected area of the country, and sits above 600 meters in altitude.  The local climate, as one could expect, has dramatic extremes.

Two new classrooms have been designed by Dear Design as a multipurpose open space and leave behind the traditional rows of chairs and desks, and speaker’s platform to give life to a new distribution with modular dynamic furniture and greater commitment to technology, lighting and sound.

The new design of the space does not correspond to a simple aesthetic desire or example of modernity, but has been conceived and designed specifically to meet the ways of contact and learning that the new teaching mode of the School of Management of the UPF required.

House By The Brahmaputra in Guwahati, India by STUDIO ADAPL

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Article source: STUDIO ADAPL

The location of site with its magnificent views of the Udaigiri hills & the mighty Brahamaputra river has played a major role in the designing of this house. The site is contoured, with the top most level perched upto the height of 7m from the approach road level. This height facilitated an unobstructed view of the river on the NW & the hills on the SE side. The land cutting for the ramp, servant’s quarter & the party hall has been used to fill the steep slope on the NW side resulting to a step terrace. This terrace is used by the lady of the house to enjoy her hobby of gardening. A cantilever deck juts out over this terrace. This deck is part of the outdoor space of the party hall that was carved out below the main house. The main bungalow is positioned on the flat portion of the topmost level of the contour.
