Pine Sanctuary in Mississauga, Canada by MARC FORNES / THEVERYMANY

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

A tree unlike other trees

On the road to Riverwood, a peak among pines announces the sprawling park, a scenery of natural splendor, but unreal experiences.

Pine Sanctuary by MARC FORNES / THEVERYMANY is a “placemaker” for Riverwood Conservancy in Mississauga. It signals the entrance to the park and provides a unique spatial experience for visitors to wander through and enjoy.

From the speed of a car driving down Burnhamthorpe Road West, the piece stands out as a visual icon, but its tall and pointed profile is at home in the context of Riverwood’s pine trees, even if it provokes a second look.

Santa Apolonia House in Torrent, Spain by Ramón Esteve Estudio

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

Article source: Ramón Esteve Estudio

Located in a consolidated housing estate near Valencia, Santa Apolonia House starts from some difficult geometry and constraints, particularly the narrow façade available on the plot. Its design is based on the breaking of the volume of the house and the generation of several pieces that seek to suit those initial handicaps.

Article source: Flussocreativo design studio

“We are curious to travel, the passion for the kitchen to experiment”

The desire to test is the key to define the Dhabbu project: a new restaurant in the historic center of Brescia where the passion for Asian food is combined with a love of tradition.

The restaurant located in a historic building in Carmine district, summarizes in its 150 square meters the outlines of an Asian fusion among ingredients in Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai style contaminated with the taste and aesthetics made in Italy.

Mount Herzl Memorial in Jerusalem, Israel by Kimmel Eshkolot Architects

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

Article source: Kimmel Eshkolot Architects

The Mount Herzl Memorial Hall is a unique place of commemoration. It’s raison d’etre is to be a memorial for all the fallen soldiers of the country, and thus contains all their names.

It is a project of hope for peaceful times.

Set in a calm biblical scenery, but adjacent to the nowadays busy streets of Jerusalem, the space is isolated and quiet. It was excavated in the mountain to form an intimate space for both personal and collective experiences of commemoration. Above the hall, the mountain is reconstructed of curved topographies made of Jerusalem stone. An undulating funnel-shaped formation of bricks opens the excavated hall to the sky. Its irregular vortex shape floods the space with ever- changing natural light.
