Article source: Nacho Gias Estudio This minimalist house was born from the renovation of an apartment in front of the Eva Perón park in Madrid, in this way, the goal is to turn an old apartment into a modern one, in addition to full of light it seeks to maximize the presence of the park inside the house . Everything is posed by a simple language that preserves the existing elements of interest. With all this a white microcement floor is made and all the adornments and superficial details, like the skirting boards, are eliminated, and consequently it is painted white, with the objective of prioritizing the light, that it is the light itself that generates the space , transitions and internal sensations.
Idea Likewise, the existing herringbone floor in the living room is preserved. The property invades the space with numerous works of art and objects with great character that mark the interior ambience of the spaces. That is why we propose a modern and simple, neutral architecture that combines warm materials and other more minimalist ones. They combine a minimalist interior with classic elements, existing in the apartment, such as herringbone wood floors. In the first place, although minimalism is a current with a large theoretical component, currently converted into a more stylistic resource than a design concept, this apartment takes up the positive values of that thought and uses them with complete freedom, giving priority to the quality of the project and the warmth of the house that the strict application of the term. Finally, it could be said that the interior is based on the theories of Adolf Loos, in “Ornament and Crime”, where it proceeds to the elimination of all superficial details of the architecture in order to prioritize the spatial and functional quality of the interior over the decorative anecdotes. However, this theoretical development coexists with the reality of a family in Madrid, which does not intend to worship the house as an object but to use it as a framework for their daily relationships and experiences. The interior wall of the kitchen is painted olive green with the intention of visually introducing the park inside the house. likewise new holes in the walls are opened, with the aim of creating wider and cinematographic frames and thus mark sequences, shadow games and also framings. with all this, the interior combines white spaces with light touches of color that organize the different rooms. That is why the form is reduced to the minimum and the space to the maximum, a day by day marked by the accumulated objects is created, by family meetings and by the presence of nature in the interior. The project is the second that I carry out with a continuous pavement, microcement type, being the first the pineapple house , with a yellow epoxy resin floor. These pavements generate a lot of fear and many people dare to use them despite being enormously aesthetic. It is true that they can demand a little more maintenance on a daily basis, but their warmth and touch completely change the experience in a home, making users want to go barefoot because they are so nice for the feet. about the fissures that may appear, I think that beyond a problem, you have to understand the material as a living element, like a wood that can present betas, and that are part of its appeal. The result is a neutral house, with a Mediterranean atmosphere, where life, objects, views are the real protagonists and architecture is left behind. The furniture occupies and appropriates space, in a house that is easy to live and use, with useful and bright spaces. The rest of this apartment is to shape aspirations of simplicity, comfort and warmth, in a real context: an existing floor, with deadlines marked by the agenda of a family with children, and a realistic budget. These challenges are facilitated by the attitude of the owners, with clear ideas, which opt for a real simplicity of the reform, greatly facilitating the development of the work and the result thereof. The objective was to inform the construction company that they had to eliminate as many elements as possible without complicated or costly details: eliminate doors where they could, eliminate frames, corners, baseboards, light points, materials and tiling. This desire is carried out using conventional materials, standard doors and common finishes. Contact Nacho Gias Estudio
