Senior Housing Kumtich in Tienen, Belgium by ZAmpone architectuur cvba

Volumetry & Inplantation

We want to preserve the quality of the existing green site as much as possible.

The new building has to be spatially with the small scaled residential street and the current residential nursing home.

“Groenhof” emerges on the street side by pulling the central part of the building 14m backwards. This way the main entrance of the building becomes clearly visible.

The complexity of the volumetry of the building gives us more variation in the orientation of the façade and control of the light. The arising corners give the possibility to make the building more open to the neighbourhood.

Dating back from the 1930’s, this beautiful parisian building near the Parc Monceau features large canopies and brick details, contouring charming artists workshops.

This challenging apartment deserved a new project, to reclaim its many assets and imagine a functional living space : in fact, the floor surface was rather small compared to the generous volume.

The new design focuses on light and geometry, complementing beautiful original features with sharp, contemporary lines.

Surrounded by City Park and located close to downtown Santa Clara and a number of schools, the Mission Branch Library has been an essential resource to the community since it opened in 1954. SOHO 3Q in Shanghai, China by Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Friday, July 12th, 2019

Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Coworking spaces such as SOHO 3Q WuJiaoChang are places that buzz with energy. Where the unexpected forms part of your daily agenda. For China’s millennials, the country’s largest demographic by far, they are work environments for new encounters – places where you can meet interesting people and create new things together. It is a way to come into contact with other talented people, mavericks, movers and doers, who could perhaps become your next coworkers or business partners. Our transformation of a Shanghai department store from the 1980s makes a stimulating contribution to this subject – and with it, to the future of the work environment. The client commissioning this project was SOHO China, the country’s largest private real estate developer, which has already made a name for itself with its spectacular construction projects.

Sant Mori Garden in Spain by MESURA

Friday, July 12th, 2019

Article source: MESURA

Francis Bacon wrote that the garden “is the purest of human pleasures. It is the greatest refreshment of the spirit of man; without which, buildings and places are but gross handyworks”. Thereafter, garden architecture took this idea to the next level, drawing on the idea that the garden constitutes the most important part of the house, the main area to receive guests or to contemplate interacting with nature.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature, the garden area of the Sant Mori house had the potential to become the center living area of the premise, if it was given preeminence by finding unity between present elements: a pool and a storage room, the glass facade of the house, and a staircase leading to the tennis court. The project was forged by a request to incorporate residue cement tiles from one of the owner´s personal projects. These were combined with a wooden pavement in order to balance the Brutalist atmosphere of the intervention, and to come one step closer to that of an inside living space.
