The House of 3 Trees is the realization of an architectural fantasy; the fantasy explores an alternate reality in which several historical events of the past century have not occurred. What if timber resources were not depleted in the late Joseon Dynasty of Korea in 17th to 19th Centuries? Despite the exhaustion of timber, what if globalization had begun earlier and had introduced the import of wooden materials from Russia, Canada, Northern Europe and Japan as affordably as it is now? Finally, what if the reinforced concrete structure had not dominated the architecture of the 21st century? Then, the timber buildings of East Asia may have continued to evolve. These premises can give us an opportunity to retain a culture of timber architecture that we had kept for at least 1500 years, and may further lead us to experience a new architecture.
the fire station north is located in linz-urfahr. the operational building from the 1970s met in functional and thermal terms not the requirements and standards of modern fire stations. since the basic substance of the building was ok, a functional renovation and extension of the existing fire station was decided. the design combines clear and efficient functionality with an architectural language appropriate to the construction task.

Located at VOM Office Park in Shanghai, among the same ordinary modernistic “cubes”, the office of Focus Advertising Agency can be recognized at first sight due to its graceful installation expanding from the entrance.
The page-like structure made by pure white waved steel plates creates rhythmically changing curves in the sunlight. Just like the prelude in a piece of music, it invites the audience to hear more about its mysterious story.
As a native Chinese advertising agency who wants a more distinctive office for its new business development based on its enterprise culture—always armed with a vast number of information.

After just 24 months of design and construction, the topping-out ceremony for the Miquelallee school center was held at the building site on July 30, 2019. By using prefabricated wood modules, a temporary home of high quality was erected for two schools in very short time. The design concept of architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) also enables the modular building to be dismantled and rebuilt at another location.

Millennials are China’s most affluent demographic. They are young, wealthy and lifestyle-oriented. Yet they also long to experience nature and to live a sophisticated, artistic lifestyle that transports them away from the world of the fast-paced mega city. So the new sales centre for real estate developer CIFI in Chongqing is more than just an elegant sales space for new-build apartments – it is a symbol of customer desires and an important communication tool for CIFI. The iconic building represents a living concept in harmony with nature and with a sense of gracious spaciousness. Which is why the sales centre is more than just a sales machine; it invites interested parties to enjoy a relaxing and informative visit. Once the real estate sales phase is over, the building can be repurposed as a restaurant or club house.
