Article source: atelierSAD When designing myhive Flexi Offices’ new office space, architects from atelier SAD not only took into account the investor’s requirements for timeless and maximally functional design, but also focused on the economy of the solution and, last but not least, environmental friendliness. During the reconstruction of similar premises as were these offices in building built 25 years ago, a large amount of materials is usually thrown away. The authors tried to avoid this. The project therefore counted on the use of original constructions and technologies and at the same time, the newly created interior was enriched with natural materials so that over the years it would not lose anything in terms of function and appearance, that it still feels pleasant and unused.  Image Courtesy © Jakub Pelnář The area of cca 1050 square meters is divided into 36 offices, another almost 400 square meters occupy common areas. In spite of this, the space as such acts as open, clear and bright. The ground plan of the building is triangular, at the intersections of corridors we can find reception, small semi-privat working pods, lobby, lounge pod or kitchen. This created a kind of city-squares where something always happens, which completes the overall relaxed atmosphere. Doors separating individual rooms are made of wood, partitions are often made of glass, suspended ceilings are made of wood wool boards. Wood wool board is currently undeservedly neglected material, but if properly used can disrupt the traditional uniform construction grid of the ceiling.  Image Courtesy © Jakub Pelnář  Image Courtesy © Jakub Pelnář The visual partition of larger coworking offices located on the outer perimeter of the corridors is created by installing suspended ceilings only in the part of the ceiling where they conceal technologies. In the rest the ceiling remained exposed and the maximum clear height of the rooms was maintained. Renowned brand lamps, custom-made worktables designed by the authors of the interior and other original furnishings illustrate one of the key principles of the SAD studio – not to compromise on design and overall quality when fulfilling the investor’s requirements for functionality and economy.
