Article source: Golub Architects Adam’s Forest House is an private house with a total area of 181.35 m2 (about 2 000 ft2), designed on a picturesque area with perennial existing pines a few kilometres from Kiev. The project was created by Golub Architects for a family with two children.
Idea of the house spatial arrangement The architecture solution of the house is dictated by the following factors: the site for the design of an elongated rectangular shape in the plan, with a total area of 1,200 m2 (12,920 ft2), so given urban planning rules about recedes from neighboring sites and houses, Adam`s Forest House is rather elongated shape in plan. The house can be attributed to the barn style. This solution allowed fitting it harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Expressing respect to the site of designing, in order to preserve the 100-year-old pine, the roof has a gap, which allowed prolonging its life. Planning solutions A 6.84 m2 (74 ft2) porch is designed in front of the main entrance. Upon entering the house, we get into a hall of 8.45 m2 (91 ft2) which leads to the studio, the total area of which is more than 54 m2 (583 ft2), also there are a wardrobe and a guest bathroom 4.97 m2 (53 ft2) not far from the entrance zone. At once behind which is a laundry room of 3.6 m2 (38 ft2). There is also a guest bedroom on the ground floor. In studio was designed a big atrium, which allowed to make the ceiling height of 9 m. On the second floor there are a master bedroom with 2 wardrobe rooms for husband and wife, also 2 children’s bedrooms with an area of 15.61 (168 ft2) and 16.69 m2 (180 ft2) respectively, with the own wardrobe rooms and bathroom. Master plan solutions In front of the main entrance, the presentation area is solved using a regular planning method, and includes a parking lot for 2 cars, which is covered by console of 2nd floor of the house; a mixborder around the blind area and technical space with waste bins. Behind the house there are a patio of 31.61 m2 (340 ft2) in front of which is designed a lawn area with Christmas tree and barbecue zone; behind the glade is situated a playground.
