One of the biggest players in the Slovakian IT business went through some major changes during 2018. The largest hosting service provider has become a member of the international group and outgrew its offices not only physically but also mentally. That directed them toward moving straight into the newly developing business district in Bratislava – Mlynské Nivy. The design of the new work environment was orchestrated by the Prague based Studio Perspektiv. The task was stated clearly – to create offices that will support company culture and serve as an exceptional event space.

Shanghai Grand Opera House in Shanghai, China by Snøhetta

Tuesday, May 7th, 2019

Article source: Snøhetta

The new Opera House is an important part of a new urban c for Shanghai that aims to place the city at the forefront of the globe, economically, scientifically, and culturally. The Opera House is expected to become one of the major cultural landmarks of Shanghai – the country’s 13th Five-Year Plan names it as the most important initiative to strengthen Shanghai’s cultural and global influence.

“The Shanghai Grand Opera House is a natural progression of our previous work with designing performing arts centers,” says Snøhetta Founder Kjetil Trædal Thorsen. “It is a culmination of the competence and insight gained through projects such as the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, the Busan Opera House in South Korea, the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Canada, and the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers renovation in Paris. The Shanghai Grand Opera House is a product of our contextual understanding and values, designed to promote public ownership of the building for the people of Shanghai and beyond”.

House Maison Individuelle in Montélimar, France by perraudin architecture

Monday, May 6th, 2019

Article source: perraudin architecture

Atelier d'Architecture Perraudin, in collaboration with Wyswyg Architecture in Lyon, proved with this project that designing inexpensive houses while using noble materials such as massive stone and wood is possible. Walls are made of 40cm thick Fontvieille stone, while roof’s joinery (interior and exterior) is made of larch wood. This house, sized on the golden rectangle proportions, is developed on two levels. In fact, the plot being located in the sub-sector UD of the municipality of Montélimar, flood prescriptions imply special provisions such as a limited footprint and raising the living space at 173 cm above the ground.

Monday, May 6th, 2019

Article source: nook architects

THE ROOM presented us with the opportunity to develop a workspace in line with present-day needs. A flexible, multipurpose environment that could take on different structures as required by the user.

A large space was needed to host occasional workshops, a room with an adaptable capacity and direct access from the street, two smaller boxes to be used as offices or small meeting rooms and an office-dining room linking the rest area with the patio.

Drive Through House in Itano, Japan by CAPD, Inc.

Monday, May 6th, 2019

Article source: CAPD, Inc.

The site is large enough to fit two buildings in a residential area in a corner of 90 tsubo. The most important requirement of the client is to make it a house that can be passed by car. First, we started with the plan of the road to solve this problem. In order to make use of the characteristics of the corner area and to be able to pass from either way, the car road which doubles as a garage enclosed by the roof and the wall is set up on the most longitudinal diagonal of the site. Dull a round window reminiscent of a ship window on a glowing outer wall, the appearance like the spaceship which appeared suddenly in a residential area was completed thus. As if the driveway of the hotel has become a garage, without bothersome crosscut, just stop the car in front of the entrance to complete all the operation involved in parking, the private house has realized a parking environment that does not see too much examples. Another is the distinction between symbiosis with pets and living space. While the notion that pets are a family is now common, client families should distinguish between pets and people's living space, and LDK and the entrance and the floor space following it are shared, and a portion of the LDK is occupied by a pet. Others separated clearly as the occupying part of the man. The floor of the common and pet occupied part employs linoleum made of natural material that is hard to harm even if the pet is licked, the occupied part of the person was used flooring and floor material that the tatami people feel comfortable.

V|M House in Llanquihue, Chile by WINTERI Arquitectura

Monday, May 6th, 2019

Article source: WINTERI Arquitectura

Located at the basin of Lake Llanquihue, the project is immersed in an extensive slope of green fields and vestiges of an agricultural past. The warehouses that are still preserved, give a touch of melancholy that maintain the tradition and history of colonization in the area, and that together with the view of the lake and volcanoes, become the main premises of the project.

An essential part of the project was to find a balance between these elements and maintain the morphology of the land, resting on a metallic structure that transmits the quality of the scene and at the same time focuses on the daily comfort of its inhabitants.
