For this project we opt for simple decisions that help us to improve the spatial understanding of the home. Taking advantage of the typical typology of this kind of neighbourhood of the city of Valencia, we decided to organize the distribution in the light yard of the building, benefiting from the fact that the house has facade in two different streets.
Studio MUTT were appointed by Universal Works in late 2017 to act as architect and creative partner for their future stores. The brief was to determine how an approach to clothing can translate into an approach to architecture. Studio MUTT developed a functional and vibrant style that responds to the layout out the building and could be tailored to subsequent sites. Coal Drops Yard is the second in the collaboration following the Soho store at 26 Berwick Street.

Situated on Tran Dai Nghia Street, Hanoi, the house lies in a lovely and tranquil alley. 5.4 meters in width and 20.3 meters in length, the house, with two open views at the front and back, overlooks a tree-filled university campus. Such an area, in the urban district, is ideal for creating a living space for a whole family.
With large panels of glass and rough, hollow brick, the panorama in front of the house with perennial trees of nearly 20m is optimized to achieve a great harmony of colors from leaves (green) and concrete (grey). In addition, a contrast can be clearly seen as the brick wall is vertically built to balance with the horizontally recessed loggia and the courtyard. Interlaced among the vertical and horizontal lines is a big tub of plant at the corner of the loggia on the second floor, which brings balance and sets the facade of the house apart. Therefore, the appeal of the house comes from a perfect blend of inner-outer spaces and the solidity and void in its architecture.
The beginnings of this project are quite clear, it means taking a step forward and thinking about the future, initially it will be for a single person, with prospects that with the passage of time may increase the number of occupants, as well as the use of the living place.
The premise and complexity when we started to distribute the spaces was to fit the program in 56m2, maintaining the sense of spaciousness. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that the most logical option was to let ourselves be guided by the chamfered geometry of the plant and by the structural lines of the building, following this thoughts, the final solution was simple and appropriate way to the building, where everything was going to it´s place in a natural way.
The X-Room is a concept room inside TED burger and lobster. It is an open space complementary to the restaurant project. The room is a secret club, a bar, an event and exhibition space: a true cultural and artistic venue. The design of the space is inspired by the Eighties, and combines different elements: elegant and refined mirror cladding, velvet upholstered seatings and curtains are apposed with rough textures of construction materials voluntarily left unfinished. Grey walls are a perfect support for the colored lighting effects which continuously change the mood and atmosphere of the room.

Earth is one of the oldest construction materials known to man; it can be fired, as with bricks and tiles, or used in its raw state as with adobe or rammed earth. Earth is a malleable material; in the Bible it is claimed that God formed mankind in ‘his’ own image from earth and water. Earth is a soft material that can become strong and weight bearing, while maintaining a breathable skin.
With ‘The Village House’, rammed earth provides the catalyst to bring together history, nature, malleability and softness around a graceful Federation era bungalow, adorned with a handsome veranda.
