Project Background
The project is located at the heart of “Chongqing House” a development on 46 Cuiyu Rd., Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area. The magnificent Earth Park can be appreciated on the west sidehill, while the east side delivers a view of the beautiful Mountain Park. On top of the hills, stilted constructions, ramps, backward terraces, yards and courtyards were all planed following a modern architectural language that combines elements from the local environment to create a contemporary space of office architecture with a unique regional identity. The original structure of the project was an empty “warehouse-style” construction located inside a creative industry complex. The owner desired to create a boutique space for furniture brands, as well as to provide a comfortable working environment for all kinds of people, portraying the lifestyle, architectural elements and collective memories familiar to the people of Chongqing, in an architectural space imbued with a renewed regional spirit.
Along the very commercial Via Torino, this bar for streetfood-lovers, stands out for the variety of proposals ranging from ice cream, fruit, coffee shop to single-serve pastry, from varied pizzas to tasty sandwiches that can be created at will. All these delicacies are displayed in the saw-effect natural wood benches and iron blades. To the black wall glazed or covered with black ceramic tiles by Mutina, graphic panels accompany the choice of products. On the floor, a Lombard block effect stoneware. To illuminate the space two complete recessed tracks with Corner adjustable spotlights by Ares Italia, and suspensions similar to iron lampshades by Karmann Italia. To enliven the walls we wanted to play with Wall & Decò wallpaper showing two different graffiti on exposed concrete walls. A glass and iron window divides the kitchen from the room, where a long high wooden table is supported by birch logs. Outside a shelter supports the logo in illuminated box letters.
Our design for Kale’s new stand at Cersaie 17 pushes the company at the forefront of a new trend: a mutable and fluid ceramics market made of smaller numbers, higher quality and wider offer. It’s a simple, light design – almost a pop-up temporary showroom – along with a very iconic visual communication.
This project is based on a complete new construction of the entire complex.
The alternative proposal to retain and adapt parts of the existing complex was rejected, as renovating the existing buildings, while a major undertaking, would still not provide the facilities required to run the school in a way that meets contemporary demands.
In addition during the course of the design work it was revealed that the dimensions of the complex imply an entirely different scale that would make a successful integration of parts of the existing complex practically impossible.
The elevation is made up of 3 cubes collocated on the existing roof. They are hosting a meeting room and technical and experimental facilities that are experiencing the efficiency level of the heating systems of the Warmset by Filmcutter management systems, compared with more common ones.

Water, flour and thousand-year old motions that smell like an everlasting good morning…The Bakery isn’t only a shop, it’s a treasure chest where the memory of mankind hides, a source of material, social and spiritual life. Calling it only a shop is impossible… even more difficult is to degrade it to a simple point of sale. Since the start this location was meant to be highly prestigious, a small precious stone set in the city, able to communicate its expressive depiction and its soul at first sight.
