El Palmar in Yucatán, Mexico by Davidcervera

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Article source: Davidcervera

The palmar, is a project of a summer house, located in the Port of Chuburna Yucatan Mexico. With a very small program since it only has a room kitchen living area and swimming pool.just 90 scuare meters. As a first objective we thought to locate the house at the bottom of the land to the south side as in the adjacent houses (in the whole context) the houses are crisscrossed to the front and leave the backyard unused. In this case it was invested to leave to the front of the house the palm trees that were in the place. Also they are in the north air, better lighting ventilation and visuals. It is a simple scheme of 3 spaces looking to the north a semi-open terrace, a living area with kitchen that extends the space with an outside terrace that approximates to the palm trees and integrates with the piscine.y the bedroom a little more private to the east .

This intervention represented a major creative challenge. Remodeling a house in a small space with previous work.

The design concept was to create warm and contemporary atmospheres incorporating different elements, like the client´s collection of Mexican art. The composition on the first floor parts from the vestibule and staircase, which had height problems and reduced space; we replaced it with floating steps to provide a sense of transparency.

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017

Article source: Atelier Boronski

On a typically small site wedged between the road and the river this house in Kyoto is a kind of European canal-house in Japan. It is close to the city center but in a quiet street near cafes and restaurants, bakeries and a chocolatier. The museum district (with temples and shrines) is a short walk, and there are many cherry trees lining nearby streets.

The case is meant for restoring the prosperity of a local temple. During our design, we find that its landscape, centuries-old history and the passion of local people require a temple which is magnificent but remains noble to reshape the memory of the site. In order to design the temple, we referred to plenty of historic files and chose some of the most philosophical and aesthetical “Architecture examples of Tang Dynasty ” in which ,no matter the profound eave or the piles of brackets all show the magnificent of the construction and the beauty of style. Furthermore, the nature environment and the manmade garden, the variety of landscape, which  enable the temple to melting  into the life of local people and heritage the religions tradition and producing positive effect.
