After 5 years of design and construction, ODA New York has completed Denizen Bushwick, 1.2 Million SF residential wonderland featuring 911 apartments, 20% affordable housing units, 15 mega-murals, 100,000 SF of outdoor space and a full suite of curated amenities. ODA designed the entire development, architecture, interiors and landscape design.
To date, Denizen is one of ODA’s largest projects, and one of the largest residential projects in NYC. With it, ODA envisions a more connected future for this area. Denizen is welcoming and inclusive of the community around it, while providing a sense of ownership and personalization for the people living there. In areas of rising urban density, ODA is working to create transparency and belonging through art, public space and community involvement.
The Symbiotic House which is largely based on returning to the traditional values of symbiosis with nature can be seen as a specific architectural effort to redefine a modern style of life and at the same time sustaining comfort and implementing the latest technological achievements. It aims to rebuild relationships between humans and their surroundings. The entire construction involves humans in the surrounding course of their natural habitat. It is not a luxury house characterised by the flamboyant prestige of modern consumption. It is rather a house in which luxury stems from natural and authentically rooted human needs.
The new library in Caudéran exudes serenity and is supremely functional, both in terms of quality and fitness for purpose. The building is in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment, symbolising the City of Bordeaux’s interest for each and every neighbourhood of the conurbation.’ Frédéric Neau, architect
The new Pierre Veilletet Library is part of an urban landscape redevelopment programme for the Stéhélin neighbourhood of the Bordeaux Caudéran area.
The project aims to ‘redefine the boundaries between sports, recreational activities and town through a number of interconnected programmes designed to transform the Stéhelin neighbourhood into a major hub for the people of Caudéran’.
This large wooded site is on a small bay on Lake Washington in the Washington Park neighborhood of Seattle. The parcel enjoys sweeping views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains was well suited for our client’s collection of specimen trees. The client’s dream was to find a waterfront property with perfect exposure that would allow them to build a garden that could accommodate these woodland treasures. Loving the calming effect of water—outings rowing along its shores, and viewing the nearby eagles, otters, and blue herons the couple was most fond of Japanese gardens because of their serenity and beauty. For over twenty years they had amassed an impressive collection of plants which they lovingly cared for and painstakingly pruned, consistent with the traditions of Japanese landscaping. For them, the garden was as important as the home.
The Lisbon waterfront is an outstanding environment which is the setting for numerous work and leisure activities. Cultural and tourist attractions bring many visitors to Belém, and they need supporting infrastructures.
Snøhetta’s design for the public garden and revitalization of The Olayan Group’s 550 Madison received final and unanimous approval from the City Planning Commission this week, following the approval from Manhattan Community Board 5 in December.
The design re-envisions the building’s public space as a generously expanded, densely vegetated garden. As a vibrant sensory retreat, its transformation draws upon the architectural heritage, the activity of the neighborhood, and the natural history of the region. As a privately-owned public space (POPS) that invites people to slow down, linger, and connect to one another and their surroundings, 550 Madison’s new garden York’s ever-changing urban fabric.
The project proposes the reorganization of the main welcome space of the park. The new Plaza del Tibidabo acts as a prelude to the character and philosophy of the amusement park and the Collserola mountain.
The proposal proposes a public space that allows the different elements of the park to be organized, as well as a place to hold events and welcome visitors.
The project is built as a large continuous carpet of precast concrete paving stones that extend throughout the main space as an element that homogenizes and allows the placement of all the different objects – fast food places, ice cream, drinks and games; which are randomly positioned according to the client needs.
Can Bordoy -Grand House & Garden- is a small 24 room hotel with a magnificent garden, swimming pool, spa and panoramic terrace, located in La Lonja neighborhood, the heart of the historic center of Palma de Mallorca. It is a complete renovation of a 2,500 m2 abandoned building that had been heavily modified throughout its more than 500 years of history. Can Bordoy has been envisioned and developed by businessman Mikael Hall and his family. The architecture and interior design have been carried out by OHLAB, an office directed by the architects Paloma Hernaiz and Jaime Oliver.
One of the most distinctive elements of the property is its garden, not only because of its size in such a dense area of the city, nor for being La Lonja’s largest private garden, but because of the richness and antiquity of the existing vegetation – which includes spectacular hackberries, jacarandas and citrus trees among others- as well as for the sound of the birds that inhabit it. The garden, along with the inner courtyard of the house and the roof terrace with panoramic views over the city, adds up to a total of almost 1,000 m2 of outdoor space. One of the project’s most important interventions has been opening the doors of the garden, until now unknown by the vast majority, to the city and giving it visibility from the entrance courtyard and from the street. Thanks to the new use of the building you can now visit most of the garden through the open terrace of the restaurant.
At about 260 sq meters (2800 sq ft) the house raises two stories in a triangular piece of ground, located in a private neighborhood of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The architectural design and organization of the house, consisted in overlapping two parallel volumes one above the other, slightly displaced, articulating in the intersection the heart for the house, where the daytime activities are served.
Stepping Green House is the idea of a home with a living space arranged with gardens, creating an urban living space close to nature. This is the second house we have done in Ninh Binh, also on the same street compared to the first house. We continue to seek creative ideas about spaces that are close to nature, pursuing the true meaning of living space and architectural form, instead of making French castle architecture that people here are favored.
