The Rural Municipal Building in Saue, Harju County by molumba

Sunday, April 24th, 2022

Article source: molumba

The rural municipal building is located in the southern part of the central park of Saue giving it a logical and dignified closure. Viewed from the outside, the office and administrative building seems like a pavilion in the public park. The contradiction between the privacy and the prominent public location of the work environment is solved by double-skin.

The city of Tortosa throughout its history is built from the overlapping of fortifications, walls, churches and palaces. Its historic center with narrow alleys and complex geometry, adapts on the hillside of the mountain.

The new Law courts building responds effectively to the specific judicial program and its strict functional requirements and, to the topography and geometry of the site, located on one of the corners of la “Plaça dels Estudis”.

Monday, March 8th, 2021

Article source: A&A Architects Ltd.

Desizo Monni corporate office building provides a creative working environment for a local fashion brand. It is located in an industrial town in one of the poorest regions in Europe. The key goals of the project were to create a new identity for the brand and to create a better environment for young talents who live abroad and wish to return in their home country.

The building is located at a post-socialist industrial zone in the town of Pleven, located in the north part of Bulgaria in the region with the lowest GDP per capita in the EU. It accommodates the administration and creative design team and is part of a larger complex where other production and recreational facilities of the company are also located. The building consists of 4 floors above ground and one underground parking. The ground floor features a reception area, a waiting lounge, and a showroom where the brand’s latest fashion collections are exhibited. The second, third and fourth floors are occupied by the creative and administrative offices. In the eastern part of the building is located the full-height atrium. Central Administration Building in Haldimand, Canada by TCA | Thier + Curran Architects Inc.

Sunday, February 7th, 2021

Article source: TCA | Thier + Curran Architects Inc.

This new 43,000 square foot, 3 storey building serves as the central administration building for Haldimand County, functioning as the ‘Town Hall’ for this county in rapid transition from its rural agricultural past due to its proximity to the GTA. The building has been sensitively scaled and massed to ensure the contextual fit in a small town with adjacent single family dwellings. The building is simple and economical, reflecting the small town ethos of cost restraint. However, attention to detail and design quality elevate the building: careful planning to break down the scale inside and out, selective use of rich, natural materials at high-profile locations and strategic use of a broad colour palette to add warmth all work to avoid the usual banal character of government offices.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2020

Article source: Steimle Architekten BDA

With its figure of two interlocking cubes, the annex building for the administrative district office  located not far from the early 18th-century town hall responds to the existing, very historical urban space. The articulation of its form through projections and recesses and its sculptural, tiered heights associate the building in a self-evident way with its immediate neighborhood and the winding lanes typical of the area, which often widen into small squares.

The new Provincial Government Office forms the pivotal element of the district development. The development responds to regional and supraregional relations and links important inner-city connections. Several finger-like structures gather around an atrium and resemble a four-leaf clover. Municipality of Suleymanpasa in Tekirdağ, Turkey by MANÇO ARCHITECTS Inc.

Monday, September 2nd, 2019

Article source: MANÇO ARCHITECTS Inc.

When viewed from the sky it is noticed that the green tissue cuts through building islands and reaches the shore in the east of the center of Tekirdag, a city in Thrace region of Turkey surrounded by agricultural land on the north and Marmara Sea on the south. The competition plot is located right next to this intersection where the urban meets the rural. There the sloping topography is sliced with retaining walls reaching 14m height on the northern corner of the plot, in order to create a bus station on the same level with the avenue. The thought that emerged in response to those walls bordering the green and built areas has been the starting point of the architectural design: “Eliminating the walls of the dam so that the buildings from one side and the greenery from the other mix and flow toward the street level; recreating the destroyed part of the topography with the emerging hybrid tectonic pile.”

The functions of the building program were solved as floors with differing sizes stacked on top of the other according to parameters such as, the level of connection with the street, interrelations among the municipality units and load bearing structure concerns. The building mass was shaped as cascades parallel to the retaining walls, in order to refer to the slope of the topography.

Rajaswa Bhawan in New Delhi, India by VYOM

Thursday, May 16th, 2019

Article source: VYOM

As India’s financial headquarters, the Rajaswa Bhawan, or the National Tax Headquarters proposed at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in the heart of the capital New Delhi, represents the morals affiliated with the country’s economic aspirations.

With its history dating back to more than a thousand years, Delhi has been witnessing a continuous change in its architectural identity, owing to the shift in the central administrative power. The amalgamation of the two predominant styles seen across the city, forms the basis for Indo Saracenic architecture. Used extensively by the British, this revival style defines public and government buildings, including palaces of the princely states built during the nineteenth century. With the site located in the vicinity of buildings such as Rasthrapati Bhawan, Hyderabad House and the Jaipur column, the design of the Rajaswa Bhawan has been directly influenced by Indo-Saracenic architecture.
