With the completion of the new headquarters of SachsenEnergie AG, an important element of Dresden’s skyline has been created. The architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) have designed a building complex with one thirteen-story and one eight-story tower, with a height of 51 and 32 meters respectively, which is in keeping with the urban context around the main railway station. Located to the south of the inner city, the new development is a visible landmark that fits in with the city of Dresden’s new town planning guide for high-rise buildings. The project, under the general planning of gmp, was planned, using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method in all trades.
The HeidelbergCement AG headquarters provide space for 1,000 staff. AS+P consistently pursued the client’s claim of “Concrete Excellence”: With curved façade elements, tree-like struts in the foyer, and the casino ceiling, the building shows the diverse potential of concrete as a material with a sustainability concept based on the Platinum Standard.
The design for the new building of the corporate headquarters is based on the architectural approach of the existing buildings and interprets them in a new, modern form. The new building interacts closely with the green space and offers spectacular views of Heidelberg from its unobstructed vantage point right at the beginning of the Berliner Strasse. The head building forms a sovereign prelude to the development of the adjoining quarter on the northern bank of the Neckar.
An international pharmaceuticals company has moved into new Swiss headquarters in The Circle, right next to Zurich Airport. We helped the company transition to a New Work environment: developing a spatial concept for the new office that was the product of more than 30 joint discussion rounds and workshops. In place of standardised, individual workstations, we designed a work environment that focuses on the individual needs of employees. The result is an office that packs a punch, differentiating while remaining flexible: with flowing, changeable spaces, set within a strong design framework.

Foster + Partners has recently completed the new headquarters for the National Bank of Kuwait. Located on a prominent site in Kuwait City, the 300-meter skyscraper has a distinctive presence among the buildings of Sharq, the city’s growing financial district. The new building brings all of the bank’s corporate employees together under one roof, promoting synergy and enhancing wellbeing. The design combines sustainable features and structural innovation, providing an energy efficient passive form, shielding the offices from the extremes of Kuwait’s climate.
The UK’s leading appliance care specialist Domestic & General was happy with the location of its existing Wimbledon head offices – in one of London’s leafiest outlying areas, conveniently close to the railway and tube station – but when the building’s lease renewal coincided with Covid-19 and lockdown, the opportunity arose for a full review of the company’s future workplace needs. Domestic & General recognised this might be a moment for wholesale change – but only if their team were likely to share in and feel ownership of that future vision.
In the heart of Rotterdam on Hofplein, the new Unilever Benelux headquarters occupy six floors of an existing building from 1960 by architect C.A. Abspoel with a striking concrete structure. The new Unilever facility will accommodate around 750 employees.
JPMorgan Chase today unveiled the design for its new state-of-the-art global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, reinforcing its commitment to New York City. The 1,388-foot/423 meter, 60-story skyscraper – designed by Foster + Partners – will be New York City’s largest all-electric tower with net zero operational emissions and exceptional indoor air quality that exceeds the highest standards in sustainability, health and wellness. It will help define the modern workplace with 21st century infrastructure, smart technology and 2.5 million square feet of flexible and collaborative space that can easily adapt to the future of work.
The creation of the new headquarters was necessary for Samolet to implement a hybrid work schedule and provide employees with a variety of workspace formats. The new office features a large number of collaboration areas, meeting rooms, common spaces, and separate spaces for individual work. Thanks to its flexibility, the office adapts to the specific tasks of project teams and allows employees to choose the most comfortable place to work.
This 94,440 square-foot building, located in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, consists of a three-story office space adjacent to a fully equipped warehouse respectively constructed of reinforced concrete and steel structure.
Gibert&Tan, who was tasked with designing this new office-slash-warehouse, decided that the only way to address the dichotomic qualities inherent to the design brief (almost irreconcilable in language and character), was to embrace them and specifically in their terms. Gibert opted for acceptance: “the decision to carry forward the pitched geometry of the warehouse to the office component implied a strong alternative to typical ‘boxes’ you often see in such context”, he says, alluding to the office unconventional asymmetric silhouette.
