Lipno Lakeside Cabin in Czech Republic by Les Archinautes

Sunday, November 6th, 2022

Article source: Les Archinautes

The building is located in the heart of Bohemian Forest with a view of Lipno lake. This cabin was built on a place where an old wooden cabin used to be. It is designed to provide the perfect base for nearby mountain sports in all conditions.

The design follows the urbanism of the buildings in its neighborhood and respects the height conditions in the area. The land is screened by forest from the regional railway line, which passes through the territory to the northeast. A narrower part of the Lipno lake opens to the southeast behind the track, there lies the mouth of the Vltava River.

Morada Escondida (Hidden Dwelling) in Baja California Sur, Mexico by Taller de Terreno Arquitectura

Sunday, November 6th, 2022

Article source: Taller de Terreno Arquitectura

The subterranean villa Morada Escondida, integrates into the Baja desert, along a natural arroyo, facilitating a naturally-climatized domestic environment. Emerging respectfully along a desert ridge, a planted roof welcomes the reintroduction of native species, further integrating the dwelling into a virgin desert landscape. Concrete mass is shaped to optimize cross ventilation, and being partially subterranean, provides diurnal cooling throughout the day. The penetrations and orientation capture steady flows of ocean breeze for cross ventilation, maintaining comfort year-round with no HVAC required.

Weekend Apartment in the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic by Markéta Bromová architekti

Sunday, November 6th, 2022

Article source: Markéta Bromová architekti

The apartment is located in a new building in the Jizera Mountains. The apartment is on the ground floor of the house, so it is directly physically and visually connected to the surrounding landscape. The apartment is entered from the second floor through a small hallway, which connects to a double staircase. This path through the hallway and descending the stairs to the lower floor directly into the interior of the apartment can be seen as a kind of filter. You find yourself in a long corridor from which doors lead to individual bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet. The corridor also separates the apartment into two functional parts – technical facilities (bathrooms, toilet, sauna, kitchen) and living areas (bedrooms and living area).

House 60 in Mar del Plata, Argentina by TAM Architecture

Friday, November 4th, 2022

Article source: TAM Architecture

A suspended horizontal surface and the ground trap the space where life develops. The outside, the inside. The stillness, the movement. The void, the all.
By folding both surfaces, they modify their horizontal and discover different heights between them.

The void was there and it was subtly trapped for a family to develop their life.

A family that decides to live in the security of a private neighborhood, one of many that emerge in the big cities of Argentina.

Living room that allows different ways of living.

Ovos House in La Canyada, Spain by Raul Garcia Studio

Friday, November 4th, 2022

Article source: Raul Garcia Studio

Housing with an ‘L’-shaped floor plan that combines the refined lines of the white upper volume with sharp edges with the more compact volumes of the lower floor. The imposing cantilever generated by the parking area, the interior-exterior continuity that blurs the limits and the natural light that penetrates into the heart of the house through a skylight located in the double height next to the staircase stand out. The most notable element, however, is the splay that is generated in the main facade, framing the windows of the bedrooms on the upper floor, with a studied inclination for adequate solar control at different times of the year while achieving a imposing volume that rises above the pool.

Nova Rio Housing in Porto, Portugal by António Paulo Marques, Arquiteto e Associados, Lda

Thursday, November 3rd, 2022

Article source: António Paulo Marques, Arquiteto e Associados, Lda

This private initiative residential project is located next to the Circunvalação, on the northern edge of the city of Porto. The plot has a trapezoidal configuration and faces rua Nova do Rio. The building’s location in the center of the plot allowed openings to be created on all its facades. Using existing alignments in the surroundings, two volumes were proposed that establish a relationship of great proximity and tension with each other. Vertical communications and distribution spaces are located in the center, in the interstice formed by the two volumes. The access to the building converges to its center, this route is accentuated by the proximity and tension between the volumes The program organizes two T0 apartments and fourteen T1 apartments, spread over four floors. A basement floor was dedicated to parking. From the outside, the building’s facades are treated in a monochromatic light gray tone, which predominates in all its constructive elements. The windows obey to a random and dynamic matrix composition that at certain times breaks the corners of the volumes.

Article source: ALTA IDEA studio

Each project reflects the energy and nature of the homeowner. As a rule, we receive a number of restrictions and requests from the client, which gives an impetus to our work. This interior, however, was designed for a rental apartment, so it didn’t have any particular image. That’s why we decided to design a space where we would like to live ourselves.

Libeň Docks in Prague, Czech Republic by QARTA Architektura

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022

Article source: QARTA Architektura

Five apartment buildings built on a former marina brownfield evoke the atmosphere of a local, “Libeň-style Amsterdam”. The houses are nested on a distinctive site, a narrow peninsula flanked by opposite green banks.

The transformation of the marina brownfield has turned the location into a pleasant contemporary residential area. As an articulation of tranquillity, the complex reflects on the surface of a river flowing through the vibrant city of Prague.
