This simple and comfortable home, located in a condominium near Lago Sul in Brasilia, is an efficient, low-cost building owned by family of public agents looking for a home that would offer an enhanced connection with nature and a positive family cohesion.
Designed by a local architect Samuel Lamas, the implantation of the house disposes generous distances from the plot boundary and preserves native trees of the cerrado region. The silent architecture in human scale is in harmony with the surroundings and the spaces positioned according to a functional logic guarantee amplitude and connection with the exterior by full-height glazing that faces out onto gardens in every facade.
Modern house – New building on a listed country estate
The house constructed by DIA – Dittel Architekten blends into the context of a historical country estate dating from the Middle Ages. The listed property is located in a rural setting in South Germany, which is characterized by natural areas and agricultural land.
This turn of the century, four-story brick townhouse with an exceedingly rare two-story rear carriage house, is not landmarked; at first the townhouse seemed to be in a mediocre preserved condition, but a closer investigation revealed that both buildings had lost most of their original details, in fact, the carriage house façade was nothing more than a plywood painted mask that created three arched openings, clearly too small for any stable. The project offered the unique opportunity to rethink what had become two separate mixed use, heavily altered buildings, into a single, unique, private complex The project makes the most of the unique conditions, enhancing all of the characteristics that make “townhouse” living desirable, without the downsides inherent to the compact size, on the interior the final result is completely unexpected in a 20’ wide structure, the spaces feel wider and luminous, comfortably equipped by amenities rarely found in townhouses, such as concealed storage and an elevator.
The “Dream House” was designed with primary aim to materialize its owner’s dream. A dream of a home that will not only fulfil his functional needs and accommodate his family but also will satisfy his deepest desires, even those rising from his subconscious. On one hand his love for the old, the classic and the antiques and on the other hand his appreciation for contemporary architecture, simple geometric forms, the sense of purity and color.
The house No.242 is situated in a housing estate in Bangkok, Thailand. The site is a 734 sq.m. elongated plot that orients north-south.
The priorities are to:
– Create a functional house for a family of 3 with 2 caretakers by using reusable materials from the tore down house as much as possible
– Keep all of the significant existing trees
– Reduce energy usage of the house
This diminutive structure, with only a 25’ by 50’floor-plate, is the smallest we have been working with over the many projects we completed in SoHo and Tribeca. The structure, located outside the Tribeca Landmark District, it is kind of a hybrid between a loft building and a townhouse, which made the shift between typologies a natural one.
The house PH2 is a three-slope monovolume, fully dressed in rusty tin on site, material taken from the rural environment, where agro-industrial buildings abound in various states of destruction. This “architecture without architects” that benefits from the lack of pretension serves us as a material reference, delimiting a stripped and essential formal language.
The history of its development establishes a reflection on the individuality of the assignment and the traffic of ideas that go from one project to another. We made two previous versions of this house, which both were out of what the principal was willing to spend, facing the cessation of the project, we wanted to rethink it based on a scheme proposed several years earlier in the form of the “Chilean House for a Gringo ” A habitat limited to the iconic and pragmatic needs in an indistinct environment. A postmodern version of the Maison Domino by Le Corbusier to carry in your pocket and install at your leisure.
Budka 22 is a place for people who want to change the world around them for the better. Social responsibility, the environment and environmental solutions are issues with which residents of Budka 22 not only deal with, but they primarily live them. Their own work space must therefore reflect these values and have been designed with respect to them.
The aim of the project was the reconstruction of the old townhouse for Green Foundation. In cooperation with the Institute of the Circular Economy, the reconstruction work was minimized to the minimum necessary, but with regard to the function and visual presentation of the concept.
Situated in the pine woods, Villa Zeist 2 adds a strong horizontal line to the vertical nature of its surroundings. A concrete canopy connects the different brick volumes of the villa, which reflect the wishes of the family. HofmanDujardin conceived their house as a series of interconnected rooms which provide intimacy and offer views to the woods and the sky.
